Ed looks around the empty pub
Ed comes downstairs, looks around the pub and then at his bank statement.
Mark not paying much attention to Gemma
Mark is eating his Cheerios when Gemma comes down and remarks, “Lonely in that big bed?”   She has a message from Ed, saying they need to talk;
"I'll come to the Deri with you"
Mark inevitably asks who it is from, and when told, thinks he will accompany her to the Deri and have a pint.
"She says what she likes!" Ffion tells Jinx
In her classroom, Ffion is on the phone to Jinx;  “You’d be angry if you were accused of doing a bad job.   Why should I bite my tongue?   She says what she likes!”   She turns, and Gaynor is standing behind her;  she informs Ffion that she will be observing her lesson this morning.
When year 9 file in, Ffion announces, “Mrs Llywelyn has decided to join us – she wants to watch how this Mrs Llywelyn does her work.”
Ffion turns off her phone
Towards the end of the lesson, Ffion’s phone rings;  “Sorry, someone interrupted me before I could switch it off,” she informs the class.
Sioned goes on about travelling the world
Sioned is daydreaming again;  “We could employ a good manager, who would pay for himself, then we could go travelling, working our way around the world.   Then we could settle down and have children.”
"It's not easy, living with Gemma!"
Mark and Gemma arrive, hearing some of this, and Gemma goes upstairs with Ed;  Mark tells Sioned it is not easy, sorting things out with Gemma.   “If I were you,” says Sioned, “I’d have thrown her out;  you’d be better off single than letting her use you, pretending to be me and using my name.”   Seeing Mark’s look of disbelief, she adds, “Didn’t she tell you about that?   She still hasn’t told you everything!”
Upstairs, the plotters at work
Upstairs Ed says that he does not want to be seen with her;  Gemma assumes that he is planning to leave her.   Ed assures her he is not going anywhere, but he does not want Sioned to suspect anything;  “Mark is bound to want to know why you came up here.”   Sioned interrupts them, coming in to collect the bag of money for the till.
"I'll help you, Ed, I'll do anything for you"
Ed appears to lose his nerve and says that he cannot do this, but Gemma insists she will do it for him;  “You stuck with me when everyone else turned their backs on me.   You pack your bags, go away and enjoy yourselves.   It will be all right!”
A little later Sioned sees Ed with a bag and asks how long he will be away this time;  he has booked a hotel, as an apology for the way he has treated her.
Sioned cannot believe he is taking her to a hotel
“There are more important things than money – we don’t want to end up like Gemma and Mark,” he tells her, “Go and pack!”
Ffion has a quick look at the lesson report
Ffion takes a file to Gaynor’s office, and as she is not there, sneaks a look at what she wrote about the lesson observation.   Gaynor then catches her at it, and warns it is very unprofessional, and she could be disciplined.
Unsuspecting little Arwen (is that a Aldi logo on the upside-down tin?)
When Ffion arrives home, she tells Arwen, who is sitting on the sofa, “Dinner, bath and a story before bed,” as she unpacks from her bag two tins — and a bottle of Vodka!
After ranting at Hywel, Gaynor goes out
Meanwhile Gaynor is venting her anger on Hywel – “She’s gone too far this time!”   Hywel tells her that this obsession is not doing her any good, and she leaves, saying that she is going to clear her head.
Sioned knows he is up to something
Sioned and Ed arrive at the hotel, with him urging her to just relax.   Sioned suspects something;  “You said we don’t have to worry about the Deri any more — what have you done?”
Mark is not taken in by Gemma's talk of an "early night"
Mark and Gemma are watching television when she announces she is going to bed early, as she has not been sleeping well.   These days, Mark does not believe anything she says.
The buzzer sounds in the nick of time, and Ffion realises what she is doing
Arwen is in bed and Ffion goes to the cupboard, retrieves the bottle, unscrews the cap and is about to drink, when the buzzer goes.   She cannot find the cap, so puts the bottle away without it.   Gaynor comes up in conciliatory mood, agreeing that she has treated Ffion unfairly, and has picked on her.
Gaynor can recognise a Vodka bottle cap when she sees it
“It’s not easy for me, coming back to a job I hate!” she admits, but then notices the Vodka bottle cap on the floor.
Her demeanour changes, and she demands how long Ffion has been drinking again, and Ffion denies that she has, but Gaynor observes, “An alcoholic’s pledge while holding a bottle means nothing!”
Ffion shouts, “All you’ve done is criticise me, and Jinx is not here when I need him most!
"Take this bottle and go!" shouts Ffion
Take this bottle and go!”   Gaynor, however, insists she is going to stay, as Ffion should not be left alone.
All those bottles of alcohol that have been poured down that sink . . .
“Goodness knows what you would do if you drank this!” rages Gaynor,  as she empties the bottle down the sink, but Ffion replies, “If I’d really been tempted, that bottle would have been empty before you called!
Ffion is not interested in easing Gaynor's conscience
You’re only doing this to ease your conscience, but sorry, I’m not interested in easing it.   I want you to leave.”
"No – don't tell Jinx!" — and she doesn't
But before Gaynor can go, the phone rings;  Gaynor answers it and tells Jinx that Ffion is putting Arwen to bed.   When she hands the phone to Ffion she just tells him that she and Arwen are missing him terribly.   Gaynor leaves, almost in tears.
Ed ensuring the staff remember him and confirm his alibi
At the hotel, Ed complains to the waiter that his steak was not rare, as he ordered, and demands another.
"You've arranged for something to happen at the Deri"
Sioned senses that something is wrong;  “You’ve arranged for something to happen at the Deri!   Tell me!”
All he will say is that this is a new start for both of them;  they can follow their dreams, “Trust me!”
Gemma is caught in the act of sneaking out
In the darkness, Gemma creeps downstairs and is about to open the door, when Mark’s voice demands, “Where are you going?”
