Ed cannot get the VAT sorted out. and Sioned is not interested
Sioned complains that all Ed has done this weekend is look at receipts, and he tells her that the VAT return is due.   If she had done some work on it while he was away . . . “There are still some receipts for the vegetable deliveries missing!” he moans, “And remember who lost our money!”
Gaynor does not appear particularly elated to be back
Gaynor at first hesitates when she arrives at school, but once inside addresses the staff, exhorting them to make sure that the next year is a prosperous one.
Ffion has only just arrived
Ffion arrives late, and Gaynor continues that they must forget the last year, with its disappointing results and negative headlines, and work together to put the school back on the map.
Ffion is told off by Gaynor
She then admonishes Ffion, who, with Jinx in North Wales, has had to take Arwen to nursery;  “Other members of staff have young children,” she lectures, “Don’t let your personal life interfere with work.”
Hywel pops into the school to check up on Gaynor
Hywel drops in at the school to check that Gaynor is coping on her first day.
Gemma's next date
When Mark calls at home during his round for a cup of tea, Gemma has just received a text, inviting her to the “Black Lion, 8pm tonight;”
Gemma makes up a story about Betsan's mother
when he reminds her they are going to the cinema tonight, she tells him that Betsan’s mother is unwell, and she is going round to cheer her up.   They can go to the cinema another night.
"There you are – ring Betsan!" challenges Gemma
“I don’t believe you,” says Mark, “Is he the same bloke as before?”   Gemma calls his bluff, offers him her phone and says, “Right, ring Betsan, and ask her about her mother.”   Mark reluctantly accepts what she says, and says he can spend some time with Ricky instead.   Gemma then leaves, ostensibly going “to work.”
"It will be on your desk in the morning!"
At the end of the school day, Gaynor tells Ffion that the new chair of governors wants the report on the last year’s activities at school.   Ffion, who appears not to have produced this report, says that it will be on Gaynor’s desk in the morning.
Gemma hurries away with Sioned's tops
Ed discovers Gemma in the Deri flat, and she tells him that Sioned said she could borrow some tops;  selecting a few, she hurries off, looking furtive.
Ed, off to Uncle Huw's, to try and borrow some money
Soon afterwards, as Mark is telling Sioned at the bar that he hardly ever sees Gemma these days, Ed comes downstairs with a bag, and informs Sioned that he is spending the night at Uncle Huw’s in Merthyr Tydfil.   “He could spare a few pennies,” he says to Sioned;  when she tries to invite herself along, he tells her, “I want to get some money, not spend it!   See you tomorrow!” and leaves.
The Deri's till sitting there, ready to be purloined
When Sioned goes upstairs later with the till, she puts it down on the table, see a box of chocolates Ed has left for her, and turns off the light, leaving the money in full view.
Gaynor gets home, where Hywel is preparing a Thai curry for her;  she assures Hywel, who is anxious that she does not overwork,  “Work stays in school;  I have heads of department and deputies to do all the hard work.
"I bet Ffion was not very pleased about that!"
In fact, Ffion’s got a boxful tonight!”
"I can't be bothered to work for Auntie Gaynor"
Ffion, however, is revelling in Arwen’s company, telling her that she is supposed to be working for Auntie Gaynor, “But I can’t be bothered!”
"Teddy Bear," shouts Arwen
After the rather chatty Arwen has said, “Teddy Bear!”, Ffion asks her if she wants to watch Bobi Jac;
"Yeah – Bobi Jac," enthuses Arwen
“Yeah – Bobi Jac!” replies Arwen.
Ffion is missing Jinx
Later, after Arwen is in bed, Ffion, in her dressing gown, speaks to Jinx on the phone, hoping that Taid will be better soon,
Now a bit of late night TV
then she gives the paperwork a cursory glance, turns on the television and curls up on the sofa.
Gemma, getting rather friendly with another man
Meanwhile, Gemma has arrived at the Black Lion, introduced herself to Bryn as “Sioned”, and spun him the tale that she owns a pub.   It does not seem long until they are in a passionate embrace.
When will Mark realise that she is just not worth it?
Mark, waiting up at home, picks up his iPhone, showing the time as 00:50, but decides against phoning Gemma.
Gemma finally agrees to take him home to "her pub"
Much later, Gemma decides it is time to go home, and “plays hard to get” but eventually allows Bryn to come with her.   Their taxi arrives outside the Deri at 01:36, and Gemma gets a call from Mark, which she ignores.   She feigns reluctance;  “Maybe it’s not a good idea after all,” but Bryn objects to paying £20 for the taxi, and says, “I’m single, you’re single, what’s the problem?”

They quietly slip in through the door of the Deri
She agrees, but tells him her sister and her boyfriend are staying there, so he has to be very quiet.   “I’ll be as quiet as a mouse, I promise,” he says, Gemma unlocks the door and in they go.
