Meic is spreading the word about a co-operative pub
In the shop, Meic tells Ffion that Ed is talking about selling the Deri, which is the centre of the village, and advocates the village buying it;  Ffion is in favour, if they can afford it.   Angela, who is just off on a run, comes in for a bottle of water, and Meic pays for it.
Colin reckons that Meic has won the lottery
Colin remarks to Ffion that rumour says Meic has won the lottery.
Bad news for Elliw
Elliw eats her toast, and is about to leave for school, when her father announces they are going to Tenerife on Boxing Day, as he found a really good deal, and has paid the deposit.   Elliw thinks up excuses not to go, and when her dad looks forward to sunbathing there, she goes.
Ows not unsurprisingly wants his wages
At the Deri, there is loud and persistent knocking at the door, and Ed, still in his pyjamas, opens up, finding Ows on the doorstep, asking for his wages, which are urgently required.   Ed says he will get the money from the bank later, then they are surprised by the return of Sioned.
Sioned is back;  "Upstairs, please – now!'
“Angela called – why didn’t you phone me to say what was going on?” she demands.   Ed says he did not think she would be interested, but she orders, “Upstairs, please – now!”
There is not much left up there . . .
When she gets upstairs she is devastated to see that some furniture is missing;  “I had to sell the sofa,” he explains, and blames her for leaving three weeks ago.   She then reminds him of his and Gemma’s fire-raising intentions, but he says she would be better going back to wherever she has been.
"We need to talk!"
“I’m not going anywhere,” she retorts, “Look at the state you’re in!   We need to talk – about us,” but Ed maintains there is nothing else to say.
Meic has bought her this posh parka
Mark delivers a parcel to Debbie in the café, which she is astonished to find contains the parka she was looking at on her iPad, and it is from Meic;  Mark says, “He must be pretty flush – he lent me the money for car repairs last week!”
Tearful Elliw is taken into Ffion's office
In school, Ffion sees that Elliw has been crying, and takes her into the office.   Elliw explains what has happened, and Ffion says she must tell her father everything before he pays the rest of ther money for the holiday.
It is against the rules, but Ffion will accompany her home
Elliw is frightened that her father will be angry and she manages to persuade Ffion to accompany her home at breaktime.
"You spend half of your life in the Deri!"
Meic meets Gwynfor in the street, and is pleased to hear that he is in favour of making the Deri a community-run pub;  “You spend half your life in the Deri!” says Meic, and Gwynfor replies, “It’s where I spend my money.”
Meic tells Mark to spend the money on Ricky
When Mark brings the cash to repay Meic’s loan, Meic tells him to keep it, and spend it on Ricky, which Mark finds incredible.
"The dream is over – and we are over!"
As Ed continues his whisky intake, Sioned says there must be some way they can save the Deri;  “You can’t just give up – it’s your dream!”   Ed replies that the dream is over, and they are over;  “You said it all when you packed your bags,” he tells her.
Ows returns, demanding his money, as he has bills to pay, and Sioned agrees to settle up with him later.   When Sioned says they cannot throw away the last eighteen months, Ed replies, “I love you, but I don’t deserve you!”
"He must have won the lottery!"
When Mark reports to Debbie that Meic cancelled his £250 debt, they conclude he must have won the lottery, but Mark warns her not to appear like a gold-digger.
Elliw arrives home with Ffion, but she feels unable to tell her father, so Ffion informs him,
"There's no easy way to say this . . ."
“There’s no easy way to say this – she’s seven months pregnant.”   As Elliw feared, he shouts at her, asking “Why didn’t you tell me?” but then calms down when he realises, “Because I’d be angry with you.”
Dad calms down eventually
Elliw reveals that she went alone to the hospital for scans, and her baby boy is fine.   Ffion will make sure that she has help with coursework and exams, doing everything possible to support her, adding, “Just as your father will.”   She urges them to focus on how they will deal with this situation.
A cwtch is just what Elliw needed
When Ffion has left, Elliw says to her dad, “I’m sorry – for everything,” and they hug.
Sioned pays Ows from her own purse
As Sioned pays Ows what he is due, Ed shouts at both of them to get out, picking up Sioned’s bags and carrying them downstairs.
Sioned, and her belongings, out on the street
He throws her luggage out of the door, and pushes her out.
"Trouble in paradise," says Colin
“Trouble in paradise,” remarks Colin, across the street, as Angela rushes to help Sioned, and takes her into her house next door.
Debbie is under the impression that Meic has won the lottery but has not told her because he does not trust her.
"It was only £500 an now it's all gone"
He assures her that his great- uncle from Amlwch left him £500, and it is now all gone.
Debbie says that she would like a multi-millionaire, “But you’re stuck with me – and I do trust you!” adds Meic.
Sioned is determined not to lose Ed
Over a cup of tea at Angela’s, Sioned emphasises that she is not giving up on Ed, and is intent on proving that she loves him and they have a future together.   “I’ll have to find a lot of money – and quickly – I’m not losing Ed!”

26 September 2014

Ed suffers another refusal
Ed speaks to another supplier, looking for a source of beer for the Deri, but they have heard about his financial situation and refuse.
"The place is going 'Belly up'!"
He tells Meic that with his credit rating, he has no chance of recovering from this, and says he has to sell, as the place is going “belly up.”
Hywel puts a copy of Wil's DVD in a box for Sheryl
Gaynor tells Hywel she would like to invite Sheryl over again, and she is taking a copy of Wil’s DVD on her way to school.   While her back is turned, Hywel slips a “Post It” note into the DVD case.
"Don't worry about last night"
When Gaynor delivers it to Sheryl, outside the salon, Sheryl takes it inside, opens it and sees the note, “Don’t worry about last night.”
Iolo finds a dirty mark on his shirt cuff
Iolo comes downstairs, psyching himself up for the first of his therapy sessions;  he notices a mark on his cuff, frantically tries to rub it off, then dashes upstairs to put on another shirt.
They are nearly ready for their French holiday
Siôn has finished a major translation job, and is now ready for his holiday with Britt in Brittany;  she is busy ironing, as she does not want to leave it for Dani to do next week.   Siôn then goes to call on Iolo.
"If the Deri is in trouble, I want to know!"
As Ed is turned down by another supplier, Garry comes into the Deri;  “Should I be worried?” he asks, “I don’t believe you any more!   If the Deri is in trouble, I want to know!”
"I shall want my £5,000 back!"
When Ed tells him he does not know what is going to happen next week, let alone in the next three months, Garry says, menacingly, “I shall want my £5,000 back straightaway, understand?   If you’re trying to deceive me . . .”   At this point Angela comes in.
Meic tells Siôn it appears the Deri is going bust
In the café, Meic tells Siôn that it looks as if the Deri will be going bust very soon, and he thinks the villagers should buy the pub.   Siôn says that a co-operative sounds like a good idea, and while in Brittany he will research French co-operative-run pubs.
Siôn will be glad to get away, after recent problems, including the leaking roof of the chapel;  Meic offers to make a donation towards the cost of repairs.
Debbie having problems with her iPad (I blame the operator)
Then Debbie comes in, complaining that her iPad has stopped working;  Meic tells her, “You’ve worn it out with so much shopping!”
Sheryl, obviously glad to see the back of Hywel
Sheryl comes out of the salon and bumps into Hywel;  she feels uncomfortable and is glad when he leaves.
Now Hywel is summoned to look at Debbie's iPad – versatile chap!
He goes to the Deri and gives back Ed’s repaired laptop, but Ed cannot pay him until next week, and cannot even give him a pint as all the beer is gone.
"I have no choice – I have to sell!"
Angela plays the part of a sympathetic listener, as he tells her the Deri’s problems;  “What are you going to do?” she asks.   Ed replies that he has no idea;  “I can’t pay the bills, there is no money in the bank and only £20 in the till.   I have no choice now – I have to sell!”
Dani, uptight at the news the Deri is in trouble
Dani and Garry go to Y Felin for a briefing on what to do next week;  while waiting for Siôn to come back, Garry tells Dani, “I don’t want to worry you, but I think the Deri’s in trouble.   I have a feeling that Ed won’t be behind the bar much longer.”
Dani predictably panics about the wedding reception, and Garry tries to reassure her that even if Ed sold, the new owners would honour the booking.
"We could have a big bucket of chips in the chapel . . ."
“We could always ask Britt to make a big bucket of chips, and we could all share them in the chapel,” he suggests, sarcastically, but this does not go down well with Dani.
Siôn is taken in by Iolo's unexpected confidence . . .
Iolo phones to check his appointment is still valid, and Siôn wants to give him a lift there, but Iolo insists, “I can’t expect you to hold my hand – I’m the only one who can beat this thing!   Go, or Britt will be after your blood!”
. . . but it does not last very long
However, when his father has left, he does not look so confident.
"Why would Meic pay for Mark's car repairs?"
Sheryl shows Wil’s presentation to Gethin, and then they go to the café for lunch;  Gethin thinks it strange that Meic paid Mark’s car repair bill at the garage.
Is there any computer this genius cannot sort out?
At the café, Hywel is casting his expert eye over Debbie’s iPad;  Meic still maintains, “If it’s a virus, I know where it came from – all those clothes and dress shops!”   Hywel hands the machine to Debbie and tells her to turn it back on;  It should now be working!
Ed becomes even more melancholy
At the Deri, Ed is feeling increasingly sorry for himself;  he tells Angela, “There’s a black cloud over this place – you lost the baby, I went off the rails, Gemma learned the truth about her mother’s death, and she stabbed Dani!   It’s my fault that Gemma moved out.”   Angela’s insistence that Gemma can look after herself does nothing to lighten his mood.
Iolo prepares himself for the frightening experience
Iolo puts on his jacket, steels himself for the experience, walks to the door,
He has taken the first step to recovery
momentarily hesitates, then goes out and strides along the street.
Siôn unveils his detailed requirements for next week
Siôn receives a text to say Iolo is at the clinic as he is about to hand out the lists of things to remember for Garry and Dani – an individual chart for each child, detailing all their activities.
"We won't be doing much relaxing," remarks Garry
Siôn assures them, “Now I can relax on holiday,” but Garry’s response is, “Good, because we won’t!|
Ed continues to lament, “I let everyone down – it’s no wonder Sioned left.   Who’d want to be with a loser like me?”
Angela is suddenly taken by surprise, and struggles to free herself
He hugs Angela, but she struggles to escape from his embrace, and he goes to sit on the stairs.
"Just come home – he needs you!"
Angela phones Sioned, and leaves her a message;  “The Deri’s in trouble, I’m really worried about Ed – Just come home, he needs you!”

Friday 26 September 2014

25 September 2014

Sheryl is unable to play Wil's presentation
When Gaynor visits the salon, Sheryl is unable to open Wil’s presentation for the school on her laptop, so Gaynor invites her for lunch to watch it at her house.
Meic will lend Mark the money to repair his car
Mark tells Meic that his car is playing up, and he promised to take Ricky out;  as he cannot afford the repairs, Meic offers to pay Garry to fix the car, and Mark can repay him later, after he gets his wages.
The brewery are on their way
Mark heads for the garage, and Ed watches from across the road, as he phones the brewery, about his delivery;  they inform him they are on the way.
Mark tells Garry that Meic will pay for his car to be fixed
In the garage, where Dani is fussing about looking after the children for Siôn and Britt, Garry tells Mark that he will be able to collect the car tomorrow afternoon.
Colin, shocked that Gemma is back with Mark
Colin, at the bar in the Deri, hears from Ed that Gemma is back at Mark’s;  he expresses surprise, then Ed asks him to mind the bar while he pops out, warning that he is expecting a delivery.
Sheryl arrives at Gaynor's
When Sheryl arrives at Gaynor’s, Hywel is about to cook Sea Bass;  Gaynor goes on about wanting to remove the wall between kitchen and front room, as she likes open-plan rooms.
Ed calls at Mark's house
Ed goes round to Mark’s house, where Mark reluctantly lets him in to see Gemma.   He says he wants to apologise, but starts by saying, “You’ve made your point, now come home!”
"The Deri is not my home any more!"
Gemma responds with, “The Deri is not my home any more, you’ve made sure of that.   Perhaps next time you won’t just threaten me!”
"Mark is stupid enough to take you in"
Ed accuses Gemma of using Mark, “As he’s stupid enough to take you in.”   Mark tells him he had better leave.
The men from the brewery arrive
While Colin is behind the bar, the brewery men arrive;  “You know what to do,” he tells them, but when he looks at the paper they handed him, he announces, in panic, to Gwynfor that they are taking the beer away.   Gwynfor tells him to ring Ed, and hands Colin his phone.
Colin finds Ed out in the street, and they try to stop the barrels being loaded into the van.
All the Deri's stock is being repossessed
Garry comes to investigate, and when told that it is none of his business, answers, “I think it is – you pocketed £5,000 of my money!
Garry threatens Ed with the wrath of Dani
If we can’t have the reception here, it’s not me you have to worry about, it’s Dani!   And you dont want that!”
"Sorry, Ed, we've had enough!"
As the brewery staff leave with all his stock, Ed gives up hope.   “Help yourself to what’s left,” he tells Colin and Gwynfor, and goes upstairs to drown his sorrows with a bottle of whisky.
Gwynfor is excited;  "Free beer at the Deri!"
Gwynfor wastes no time and phones, “Is Mal with you?   There’s free beer at the Deri!”
"She needed a roof over her head"
As the van drives away, Colin sees Mark outside the chippy;  “You didn’t tell me you were back with Gemma,” he says.   Mark replies that she just needed a roof over her head, and she knows the score.   Colin tells him that the Deri may not be here much longer, as Ed is in real trouble, with all the stock being collected.
"You just missed all the palaver," says Colin
Then Colin tells Meic what has been going on, so he marches over to the Deri, going upstairs where Ed is knocking back the whisky.   Meic tries to persuade him that things are not as bad as they seem;  “Find another supplier,” he urges Ed, who asks how he will pay for it.
Dani is getting flustered
Dani is very flustered as she serves up their meal, frightened by the prospect of looking after four children, supervising their homework and making sure they have their dinner money.   She tells Garry that marriage is about sharing things and talking;  “I want you to take me seriously, that’s all – this wedding is stressing me out!”
"Of course I take you seriously," he grins
Garry assures her that he takes her very seriously, but is grinning broadly as he says it.
They watch a film as they eat their chips
Gemma and Mark are eating chips, and she says she did not expect things to get so bad so quickly;  she almost feels sorry for Ed.   Mark tells her Ed is responsible, not her, and they settle down to watch a film.
The free beer is flowing, until Meic intervenes
Meic comes downstairs in the Deri to find a gang of drinkers polishing off the free beer;
"Iechyd da!" says Gwynfor . . .
“You’ve forgotten something, lads!” he lectures them, and Gwynfor raises his glass, saying “Iechyd da!”
. . . but he looks less happy after Meic's lecture
“You need to pay!” continues Meic, and despite Gwynfor’s insistence that Ed told them to help themselves, they all put their hands in their pockets.
"What's up with St Michael?"
When Meic leaves, Gwynfor grumbles, “What’s up with St Michael?”  Colin reckons that Debbie must put something in his water.
After the meal at Gaynor’s, they watch Wil’s presentation, preceded by the Canadian national anthem, on Hywel’s laptop, and drink some more wine.
Shery, feeling rather weepy, prepares to leave
Sheryl becomes quite emotional and says she will have to leave;  as she puts on her coat, she thanks Hywel for his computer advice.
He says, “There is something rather technical you could try next time you have a problem – you could switch it off and back on again!”   Sheryl, by now slightly tipsy, laughs that is too technical for her.
It has been a while since randy old goat Hywel tried it on with anyone
With Gaynor sitting a few feet away in the front room, Hywel kisses Sheryl.   Realising what has happened, she pulls away, looking shocked, and leaves hurriedly, without another word.
