The players, after having their pictures taken
A Western Post photographer is taking pictures of both the Cwmderi RFC team and the Veterans.   Rhys urges the youngsters, “Right, are we ready to hammer them?”
"My failure will be in the paper"
while Hywel complains to Siôn at bringing in the photographer;  “My failure will be in the paper for all to see!   Rhys’s team will give us a hiding.”
Jim's absence annoys Dai
Jim is suffering from food poisoning, so John Post will take his place as prop;  Dai is the referee, and looking forward to his Lifetime Achievement Award.
At number 7, Iolo is preparing to go to the match, while Gethin asks if he is fit to play.
"He's got a lot of cleaning up to do"
Then Ffion comes calling, bringing two Christmas puddings that Val sent them;  she hopes they will be of use at the soup kitchen.   Iolo warns her against doing the clearing up after the session Gethin and Colin had last night.
"They're watching 'Frozen' yet again!"
Ffion tells Gethin that Jinx and Arwen are watching “Frozen” yet again, and asks if he wants a hand with the clearing up.   “Where’s your cleaning cupboard?” she asks.
Ffion finds Colin's mistletoe
As she works, she finds mistletoe stuffed down the back of the sofa;  she enquires, “Who else was at this session then?”   Gethin replies that Colin could not have had a kiss, or the whole village would have known about it by now.
"Did you try your luck?"
Ffion asks, “Didn’t you try your luck?” and Gethin is quick to answer, “Not with Colin!” so she consigns the mistletoe to the bin.
Eifion, after scoring one of his tries
At the rugby match, Eifion manages to score three tries, and Siôn, with the megaphone, shouts encouragement to Iolo, embarrassing him.
Eifion tells Dai, “I’m winning this match on my own,” but Dai insists all three tries were flukes.
Ffion enjoys a cup of tea with gethin
After Ffion has bagged up all the rubbish she sits down for a cup of tea with Gethin, who thinks that Christmas is unnecessary fuss.
"Things might be different next year:
Ffion says he would not feel like that if Daniel were with him, and suggests, “Things might be different next year.”
Gethin has been wanting to do that for a while
Gethin leans forward and kisses her, and Ffion does nothing to resist;  he then apologises, she says there is no need to do so, but hurries off.   Gethin thinks he has spoilt things.
As Siôn gives a florid commentary on the progress of the match, referee Dai turns and shouts, “Shut up – the boys are trying to play rugby!”   He fails to see Eifion hurtling towards him with the ball;
The injured referee in agony
Dai is thrown into the air and lands on his back, shouting, “Aargh!   Do something!   Ambulance, doctor, nurse!”
"I've been detailed to look after you"
As Ffion reaches the Deri to assist Gaynor, the guest, Robin McBryde, arrives, and Gaynor starts “harmlessly flirting” with him.
"Behave yourself, Gaynor!"
Ffion warns her to behave:  “I know how you are with famous people!”
Siôn's news of the match result
Siôn comes in with the shock news that the veterans have won the match;  this displeases Gaynor, who says, “Hywel will be insufferable, and Rhys will sulk for weeks!”
Siôn tells Robin that his friend, Dai Ashurst, has been injured, but Robin appears not to know Dai at all.
They are still bickering
At the hospital Dai heaps the blame on Eifion, who replies, “It was an accident – you were standing there like an idiot, shouting at Siôn!”   Dai protests that he was doing what a good referee should.
Ed is given the Golden Boot award
When all the other players have gathered in the Deri, Siôn announces that the Golden Boot award goes to Ed, and Man of the Match was Eifion, who is unable to bask in the glory as he is still arguing with Dai.
"My name is on one of the awards!"
“To think I’m sitting here when Robin McBryde is at the Deri, and my name is on one of the awards!   Who else deserves a Lifetime Achievement award?”
Siôn is rather embarrassed to find that the Denzil Rees Memorial award has been made to him;
Ed describes Siôn as, "Diligent and honest"
Ed praises him, “It couldn’t have gone to a more diligent and honest man!”   Then the main award, to the person who has done most to raise the profile of the club.
"And winner of the Lifetime Achievement award is . . ."
“The winner embodies everything that’s important about Cwmderi RFC.”
But before we hear the name, we return to the hospital, where Eifion receives a text from Ed.
Eifion breaks the news to Dai
“I’m man of the match,” he announces, “And the lifetime award went to Hywel!”   Dai cannot believe this, and after seeing it on Eifion’s phone is all ready to go back to the Deri to demand a recount,
Pain stops him going to demand a recount
but collapses in pain on to a chair.
He moans, “I played in the front row for twenty years!   How many times has Diane threatened divorce, over all the hours I spend at the club?”
"Can I get you anything else, Robin?"
Gaynor assures Robin that she will get him anything he wants, and Hywel comments,
"Obvious who your man of the match is!"
“It’s obvious who your man of the match is!”   Sheryl sidles up to him and remarks,
"It gives you more time to spend with me"
“Your wife is taking her duties very seriously, but it gives you more time to spend in my company!”
Ffion tells Gethin that she is checking up on Gaynor’s “harmless flirting”, and he suggests that perhaps Hywel and Gaynor have an arrangement – “an open relationship.”
"One person at a time"
Ffion considers that does not happen in real life;  “It’s too complicated – one person at a time.”
Gethin asks, “What was that earlier?” and she replies,
"I don't want it to happen again!"
“I don’t know, but it scared me, and I don’t want it to happen again – it was a mistake.”
"Not a word of sympathy!"
Dai has at last been treated, and complains to Eifion, “A few tablets and a sling – not a word of sympathy.   Eifion says he enjoyed the game and would like to play again;  he suggests they bury the hatchet, but Dai refuses.
They sneak out of the Deri . . .
Hywel and Sheryl emerge from the Deri and walk along the street;
. . . find a hidingplace where they will not be seen . . .
when they reach the anonymity of that new shelter, Hywel says, “Let’s enjoy tonight – come here!” and kisses her.
. . . but Ffion witnesses what is going on
In the background, Ffion, who is heading home, looks round and sees them in a passionate embrace.
