2 September 2014

As Gaynor and Hywel walk along the street, he is anxious that she does not get stressed, after last year, and she assures him she will delegate this year.
Ed has no idea where Gemma is
Mark is delivering the post, and when he sees Ed arrive in a taxi at the Deri, asks if he has seen Gemma.   Ed replies, “No – sounds as if you have upset her!” and goes into the Deri.
Quite literally, "His hand in the till"
Upstairs, Bryn is just putting on his shoes, and notices the till on the table;  on his way out he grabs a generous handful of notes and smiles.
"Who the hell are you?"
However, when he gets to the bottom of the stairs, he is confronted by Ed.   “Who the hell are you?” demands Ed, “What are you doing here?”   Bryn suspects he is the barman, and admits, “I spent the night with Sioned.”
"How long has this been going on?"
Ed shouts at him to get out, then rushes up the stairs and wakes Sioned;  “How long has this been going on?   Have you been sleeping with Bryn?”
"Bryn was with me!"
Sioned of course has no idea what he is talking about, and then Gemma appears in the doorway, saying, “Bryn was with me.”   Sioned is furious at Gemma using her name and her clothes.   When Gemma says she is sorry, Sioned replies, “You will be sorry when I’ve finished!”
Despite the late hour, Ffion slumbers on
Ffion is fast asleep on the sofa, where we left her last night, when the phone rings;  Gaynor is asking where she is, as it is 08:30.
Ffion's fertile imagination comes up with an excuse
Ffion invents being stuck behind a tractor on her way to Arwen’s nursery, and as soon as she puts down the phone, shouts, “Wake up, Arwen!”
Ed asks Gemma what she is doing, sleeping with other men behind Mark’s back, while he is out of his mind with worry.   Her reply is simply, “Please don’t tell Mark!”
"Where are last night's takings?"
When Sioned comes in, she immediately sees that the money is missing, “Where are last night’s takings?” – Ed cannot believe this, and phones the police.   “Please don’t do that – if the truth comes out, I’ll have to explain to Mark,” says Gemma.
Ffion has another telling-off
When Ffion dashes into school, she lies to Gaynor that she left the report for the governors at home;  Gaynor knows she is lying, but tells her to go to her class.
"None of your friends in this book have seen you"
Mark sits waiting, and when Gemma comes in, he tells her he phoned Betsan, and her mother answered, fit as a fiddle.   He has also rung all of her friends listed in her little book and none of them has seen her for weeks.
"Who was he, Gem?"
“Who was he, Gem?   Who were you kissing, when I couldn’t sleep here?   Was he in his twenties, tall and handsome, like the other lad?”   She tells him his name is Bryn, and lamely tells Mark it is him she loves;  this one night stand meant nothing.   Mark simply leaves to resume his postal round.
The police are no help at the Deri, as there was no break-in and the money was left in full view.   Gemma bursts in, looking for Mark;  Sioned comments, “Oh, you remember who your boyfriend is, then.”
"We have no money!"
Upstairs, Gemma tells Ed that Mark now knows what happened, and accuses  Sioned of turning Ed against her.   “Stop going on about yourself for five minutes!” responds Ed, and stresses to her that he has no money, and bills are piling up.   “I sometimes think the only answer is to put a match to the place,” he despairs.
"I hope you've finished with her," says Colin
Colin finds Mark sitting on the seat outside APD, takes him back to number 7, and hears about Gemma’s exploits;  “I hope you’ve finished with her then!” is Colin’s reaction, but Mark just walks out.
When Gaynor gets home, Hywel says he has booked a restaurant, but she is far too busy for that;  “If there was a degree in lying, Ffion would get first class honours!   I can’t trust her!” she complains.
Arwen, out for a walk with Mummy
Ffion walks along the street with Arwen, and cannot find anyone to look after her;  she tells Colin about her run-in with Gaynor, and he sympathises, remembering how Gaynor always had her head in a book, and he looked after the girls.
"Chips or beans on toast?" asks Uncle Colin
This gives Ffion an idea, and she pays him £10 to take Arwen to get something to eat at the café.   Colin asks Arwen, “What shall we get, chips or beans on toast?”
Sioned is demanding an apology
Sioned is as usual whinging about Ed not apologising for suspecting her of sleeping with Bryn, but he replies, “We don’t have two pennies to rub together, and we both know whose fault that is!”
Arwen had a good meal, judging by the tomato ketchup on her face
When Colin and Arwen come out of the café, they meet Hywel and Gaynor;
"You never change, Gaynor!"
Colin tells them, “Someone has been cracking the whip at Ffion – you never change, Gaynor!”   Then he takes Arwen to the park to see the ducks.
"All your things are in the spare room"
At home, Mark has been sorting out all Gemma’s things, putting them in black sacks and storing them in the spare room.   When she returns, he gives her an ultimatum, “Promise me one thing – stop seeing other men!
"You and your stuff will be out on the street"
If I see you even talking to another man, I swear that you and your stuff will be out on the street!”
Gaynor finds something else to complain about
Ffion has now written the report and takes it to Gaynor’s, but this time she complains that Ffion has been talking to Colin about her, “And Colin is too foolish to keep quiet!”
Hywel’s comment is, “That was a bit unfair,” and Gaynor replies, “You taking her side – what a surprise!”
