Iolo recommends another plumber
Iolo has looked at Meic’s shower, diagnosing that it needs a new pump, and he recommends Jenkins of Cwrtmynach, as he is no longer working as a plumber.   He remarks upon the events in the Deri last night, but assures Gabriella that his father will never ban anyone from Patagonia.
He intimates that Dai is not a very popular person
“You would have to murder Dai, and people would help you do that!” he tells her.
He also knows about Gabriella being Meic’s daughter, as Colin told him, so Anita concludes,
"We're the talk of the village!"
“We’re the talk of the village!”   Gabriella goes off, saying she will find Dai, and Meic pleads with Anita to get to know her better.
Ffion smiles at the sound of Gethin's voice
At home, Ffion is listening to Jinx interviewing Gethin on CwmFM.   She smiles as Gethin suggests people support the soup kitchen, and challenges Jinx to do something very silly for money.   He asks listeners to send in their ideas.
Ed bemoans his latest taxi job
As Britt cleans up the Deri, Ed comes downstairs, having been up since five, ferrying a gang of unruly girls back from Swansea.   He will have to clean the taxi before his shift at the café, and says he will not get a break until Christmas Day.   “Book Sioned and me in for Christmas dinner,” he asks Iolo,
Siôn decides the Deri will be closed on Christmas Day
but Siôn tells him that the Deri will not be open that day.
Britt is incredulous at turning away all that money, but Siôn goes on about Christmas being a time for families.
Britt produces figures to show they cannot afford to close
Iolo says he is willing to work, and later Britt has calculated that they should take £2,000 on Christmas Day, but Siôn tells them he has made his decision.
Iolo replaces the shelf under the sink
As Iolo prepares to go and mend a shelf upstairs, “To keep the tenants happy,” he says he would like to work in the Deri on a permanent basis.   Britt points out to Siôn that £2,000 is a lot of money, and it would help to pay off the debt to Bethania.
Britt sounds a note of warning
“Someone might find out – the members might want to see the balance sheet!” but Siôn is confident that they will not, as he deals with the accounts.
Britt continues to insist that they have to open on Christmas Day, as all their competition will be doing so, and remarks, “At least we objected to the stupid idea of an Indian takeaway in the High Street!”
"Ooh-er – I was too busy!"
Then she deduces from Siôn’s expression that he forgot to post the letter, as he was “too busy”.
"Blinkin' heck, Siôn!"
“Blinkin’ heck, Siôn!” she exclaims, “Just what we need – more competition for the chippy!”   Siôn capitulates;  “All right, the village waterhole will be open on Christmas Day!”
The penny-farthing idea tickles Debbie
In the café, as Ffion collects three coffees, she hears on the radio a suggestion that Jinx should ride a penny-farthing from Cwmderi to Cwrtmynach.   Debbie is unhappy that Ed is asleep on his feet, and even more perturbed when he dashes off on an urgent taxi job.
They discuss challenges for Jinx
Ffion takes the coffees round to CwmFM, where they discuss what challenge Jinx should be given;  he receives a text telling him he should swim the River Mynach on Christmas Day, and Ffion says,
Ffion will not make Jinx run through the village, naked
“We won’t make you run through the village, naked!”
The law arrives, much to Gabriella's displeasure
Outside CwmFM, Ffion meets Anita with Gabriella, who seems very worried when she sees two police officers patrolling.
"They're definitely looking for someone!"
Soon, in the Deri, as Britt serves coffee to them, they see the two officers enter, and Gabriella remarks, “They are definitely looking for someone.    I hope Meic has not contacted them about Dai!”
The police are about to leave . .
When Siôn has told the police he will contact them if there is any trouble and they have left, Gabriela enquires if they were asking about her.
. . . then Gabriella asks if they were talking about her
She then reveals that she is in the country illegally, as her six-month limit has already expired.
Anita begins another of her rants
Anita is furious;  “I knew something was not right!   I bet you don’t come from Patagonia, and you’re not Meic’s daughter!   If you don’t tell us the truth, I’ll go after the police officers!”
“If I have to leave, I’ll never get to know my father!” pleads Gabriella
Britt thought they had come to arrest Siôn
Britt was also concerned about the police presence, worried that they were about to arrest Siôn.   Then Iolo asks if they have discussed his offer to work full-time;
Iolo wants to become a partner in the pub
“I want to invest some of my savings in this place, but I expect to be a partner if I do,” he tells Siôn, and he wants a quick answer. He says Britt would be able to spend more time at the chippy, and Siôn could do more translating.
"No, this is not another of Garry Monk's bags!"
Gethin arrives at Ffion’s with another bag, and this time he proves it is above board by showing the receipt;  “You paid that much for a bag?   I can’t accept it!” she replies.
“You’ll really disappoint me if you don’t,” he says, so she accepts,
Oh dear – the thin end of the wedge!
and kisses him on the cheek.   Then Jinx arrives home, so she tells him that she bought the bag at a charity shop;  Jinx is told one pupil thought that a suitable challenge would be to attend Mr Parry’s chemistry classes for a whole day.
More challenges are evaluated
They soon come to the conclusion that a “living statue” is the favourite idea, but Jinx is convinced they are out to make a fool of him;  however he eventually agrees to, as Ffion puts it,
Ffion seems to like the idea of Jinx being painted all over
“Be painted from top to bottom!”
"He might find out about the money from Bethania"
Siôn tells Britt, “If circumstances were different, I’d love to have Iolo working here, but he might find out about the money from Bethania.”   Britt maintains that proves he feels guilty, but he insists, “I acted in the best interests of the village.”
Siôn tells Iolo he should stay as a plumber
He informs Iolo that he would be much better earning £20 an hour as a plumber, and should not throw that away.
"Stuff you, and your pub!"
Iolo is offended;  “So this is the thanks I get for helping you out!   Stuff you, and your pub!”

Gabriella is sorry for upsetting things . . .
Gabriella apologises to Meic for letting him down, but he insists, “They won’t send you home if I can help it!”   Despite Anita telling him he has enough on his plate already, he continues,
. . . but Meic's mind is made up
“I’ll pay for the best barrister in the land – we’ll stick together as a family – no-one will tear us apart!”
