16 December 2014

Sheryl looks much more lighthearted now
Sheryl is in a very carefree mood, with Christmas music playing as she brushes her hair,
and smiles broadly when the words “happy holiday” are sung.
No prizes for guessing who texts her
She receives a text from Hywel.
Jim looks rather under the weather
Gabriella comes into the shop and asks Jim when it will be convenient to film the turkeys at Penrhewl;  he tells her to come any time, but he is unwell and unlikely to be there.
"He's making a high quality film!"
Dai is also in the shop and interjects, “Tell Meic to come and film me,” to which Gabriella replies, “He’s making a high quality film!”
"Meic has got two women on the go!"
Then Dai jokes with Colin about Meic having two women on the go;  Gabriella snarls, “Shame on you!” and walks out.
They are still waiting for Jim to arrive
At Penrhewl, DJ reports that he has moved the turkeys closer to the guillotine, but there is no sign of Jim.   Cadno is concerned, as they have hired the plucking machine for only one day.   Eileen remembers when she and Denzil used to pluck the whole lot by hand;  “Butchering and plucking day was the start of Christmas for me,” she reminisces.
"Is she just his assistant?"
When Cadno remarks that Meic and his assistant are coming to film, Eileen says, “Some people reckon she’s not just an assistant!”   DJ agrees that she is not like the girls in the Young Famers – “Ferrari, not Vauxhall Cavalier!”
Gabriella reports what Dai has been saying
As Meic fetches Anita’s boots for Gabriella, she tells him what Dai was saying about him, but he tells her to ignore him.
Colin is looking at the local paper, trying to find Lois a holiday job;  Jim tells her there is no work at APD, and it would not suit a woman.
Jim tells Lois she can clear up after the slaughter
Lois objects that this is sexism, so he tells her she could help at Penrhewl;  “You can sweep up the feathers and mop up the blood,” he tells her, and she reluctantly agrees.
Meic considers Dai to be a "rural cowboy"
As Meic and Gabriella come out of the front door, Dai shouts across that now is Meic’s chance to film a “rural craftsman”, but Meic thinks “rural cowboy” would be a better description.
They are shocked by Dai's tirade
Dai remarks to Colin, “It will be like a blue movie, with Gabriella and Miguel playing doctors and nurses!”   Gabriella takes exception to this and shouts, “Less of that – I’m Meic’s daughter!”
"Yes, and I'm Donald Duck's father!"
Dai responds, “Yes, and I’m Donald Duck’s father!”   Meic says that now is not the time to tell everyone, but Gabriella thinks he is ashamed of her.   He assures her this is not the case, but wanted to tell Darren and Kevin first.
Too many people about for anything intimate
The café is crowded, and hardly the best place for Sheryl and Hywel to gaze into each other’s eyes, so they arrange to repair to Sheryl’s flat, as she has no appointments for the next hour.
The turkey-slaughtering gang
As the filming starts outside the farmhouse at Penrhewl, Jim looks worse, makes an excuse that he saw some sheep out of their field at Ffynnon Wen and must go and sort them out.
It is all too much for Jim's delicate constitution
Then he has to rush to the kitchen, where he throws up.   He tells Eileen he did not sleep a wink last night;
Eileen is less than sympathetic . . .
“Has the thought of killing turkeys made you feel ill?” asks Eileen, unsympathetically.
“It’s not funny, I hate killing any creature, I can’t help it if I’m sensitive,” Jim admits, but Eileen simply replies, “Don’t be such a baby – get to that shed!”
. . . but Cadno can understand his reluctance
Cadno recalls that she had a pet lamb, Banjo, when she was a child, but he had to go the abattoir with all the others.
"It's horrible!   There's blood everywhere!"
Then Lois comes in upset that DJ has started killing the turkeys;  “It’s horrible, there’s blood everywhere!   I’m going home!”
As Eileen chases after her, Jim predicts he will never hear the end of this, but Cadno tells him she will say he had to go to get the mythical sheep.   Jim realises, “I’ve got to prove to Eileen I’m as much of a man as Denzil – I have to do this!”
Jim and Cadno come to a compromise
Cadno concedes that she and DJ will do the killing, while he does the plucking;
Jim psyches himself up
summoning up his courage, Jim follows her out.
"What did happen?"
When Hywel arrives at Sheryl’s flat, he asks her what happened on the day of the wedding.   When she remains silent, he assumes that she was with Garry,
Initially, he does not believe her . . .
so she has to tell him the whole story, which he finds rather unbelievable.
. . . so she tells him the whole story
“Gethin pretended to be Garry, and did some dodgy deal which went wrong.   The thugs thought I was Garry’s girlfriend, and grabbed me on the morning of the wedding.”
She admits it was not a pleasant experience, but she has now learned to put it behind her;  “You helped me to bury the past, and I have found my confidence, and I’m ready to move on.
Sheryl, delighted she has got him in the bedroom again
I’m happy with you, Mr Llywelyn,” she says leading him, once more, to the bedroom.
Lois has been put off meat for life
Back in the café, Lois tells Colin about her horrific farm experience;  “They fatten the turkeys for months, and then murder them in cold blood!   I’ll never be able to eat meat again!   I’m turning vegtarian!”
To please her, Colin agrees to stop eating meat, but when she has gone, he resumes his ham sandwich.
The rather distasteful, "Congratulations Dad"
Then Dai comes over with the café laptop, on which he has designed a rather offensive picture depicting Meic.   Colin insists he wants nothing to do with it;
Colin wants no part of it
“You carry on your dirty little scheme on your own!” he tells Dai.   “Lois’s daughter might come looking for her mother one day, and I don’t want people making fun of her!
The killing appears to be over
As Jim sweeps out the barn, Cadno and Eileen arrive with refreshments, and Gabriella films them, commenting, “The workers having a cuppa.”
Meic coughs, but makes light of it
Meic coughs, but dismisses it as an allergy.   DJ suggests that the film needs some romantic interest, involving Gabriella, but Meic responds, “Keep your hands off my daughter!”
"I'm very proud of my daughter!"
As everyone looks at each other in surprise, Meic says they might as well know that he is very proud of her.   DJ says, “So I have to ask your permission to marry her one day?”
"I shall never eat meat again!"
Outside CwmFM Lois sees Hywel and reports her conversion to vegetarianism;  Hywel doubts whether her mother and Rhys would agree.
"Are we doing the right thing"
Sheryl, using the cash machine nearby, asks him, “Are we doing the right thing?”
"No-one will get hurt!" — famous last words
Hywel assures her that they have to be careful, and that no-one will get hurt.
When Gabriella discovers one of the pictures . . .
In the Deri, Dai and Meic are exchanging insults, but then Gabriella sees one of the pictures;  she rips it down and accuses Colin of being responsible.
. . . she is furious with Dai . . .
He points out Dai as being the source, and when Dai asks, “Any more babies hiding under the stairs, Pierce?”
. . . and graphically displays her anger
in a rage, Gabriella empties an entire pint of beer over Dai’s head.
He jumps up, grabs Meic’s camera, and demands, “Apologise now, or Meic will never see this camera again!”
"You haven't heard the last of this, Pierce!"
Gabriella refuses, and tries to retrieve the camera, but Meic restrains her;  “You haven’t heard the last of this, Pierce!” Dai shouts, as Gwynfor and other customers laugh heartily at this entertainment.
