Dylan has to go to work
Dylan leaves home, 30 Maes-y-Deri, for work, warning Elliw not to forget to wind the baby.
Ffion is obsessed with the baby
Meanwhile, Jinx leaves for work and Ffion looks at the photo of Gethin junior.
When Jinx arrives at the business units, Gethin is in the soup kitchen, and remarks, “It was quite an experience – I’ll never forget it!”
Gethin seems unconcerned about Jinx's comment
Jinx is dismissive;  “From what I heard, you only held Elliw’s hand.”
Ffion swings into doting mother mode
The baby is crying when there is a knock at the door and Ffion arrives;
"I shall never be able to learn"
she picks him up and calms him, while Elliw says that every time she puts him down, he cries, and despairs that she will never learn.
Ffion offers to take the baby to the park, so that Elliw can get some sleep;  she is very grateful for the respite.
Gethin cannot resist the invitation
As Jinx is “borrowing” some coffee, Gethin receives a text from Ffion, inviting him to come to the park with “little Gethin”.
Peaceful little baby Gethin
Ffion is smiling at the baby when Gethin arrives, and she is having second thoughts about whether Elliw can cope.   Gethin reveals that he has not held a baby for nine years and three months, and that he only held his son, Daniel, a couple of times.
Gethin recalls how he felt nine years ago
“I was scared, and didn’t want the evil in me to affect him,” he tells Ffion, and she realises he is talking of the business with Moc.   “I knew that something inside me was dirty,” he continues.
Ffion tells him he could not help what Moc did, and sympathises with how he feels;  “I drank so much that it’s a wonder it had no effect on Arwen.”
Gethin reminds her she has been sober for a long time now, and says, “You’re not too old to have another baby.   In the car, when you tried to get him to breathe, you said, ‘not again!’”
Ffion reveals details of her past
Ffion explains that the same thing happened with her sister’s baby, Lleucu, and that she and Hywel raised her for the first two years.   Before that, she had lost three babies;  “Arwen was a total fluke!” she says.
Ffion admits that she does not know whether she wants to adopt, as it might be an older child, not a baby.   “Elliw says he cries all the time, but he doesn’t make a sound with us – he’s happy!”
Gethin photographed with the baby
She persuades Gethin to hold the baby, and takes a photo of them.   “You’re a natural with him,” she tells him, and learns that differences with Daniel’s mother meant that he does not see him.
“Don’t tell anyone,” confides Gethin, “I offered to raise Dani’s baby, but she was determined to have an abortion.”
She confides that she wants a baby
Ffion tells him, “We were going to adopt, but it has all changed now, for me at least;  I want to be pregnant, I want to give birth!”
Gethin reckons she is halfway there, “You delivered him and saved his life.   We could kidnap him and run away,” he jokes.
Elliw catches up on sleep;  her phone vibrates unheard
Elliw is fast asleep when her father tries to ring her, and does not hear the vibrating phone.
They talk of Dani's wedding — to Garry Monk!
Ffion and Gethin have moved to the swings, and their conversation shifts to Dani’s wedding;  “You’re giving Dani away – to Garry Monk?” she says, disparagingly.   Gethin says that for some reason, she loves him.
Ffion has turbulent history with Garry
Ffion reveals that she has had dealings with Garry;  “We lived together for a while, I drank a lot and thought it was not worth carrying on – and he took advantage of me!   I was at such a low ebb that I went to Pont y Mynach to throw myself off, but he found me and stopped me.   A few weeks later he thought I’d betrayed him, so he dragged me back there, and would have thrown me off, if Yvonne hadn’t stopped him.”   She pleads with him not to tell anyone.
They leave for the flat
Gethin thinks it is time they took the baby home, but Ffion wants to give Elliw some rest, so they go back to her flat.
Dylan overreacts, as per normal
Dylan returns home, asking why Elliw did not answer the phone, and sees the baby is missing.   Once again, he thinks the worst, ignoring Elliw’s explanation that Ffion took him for a walk, and tries to contact Ffion and then Jinx, finally dashing out to look for the baby.
Ffion has lost none of her mothering instincts
Ffion has give the baby his bottle, and he is peacefully asleep.   Gethin admires the flat and remarks, “You should try sharing with Colin and Iolo!”
Gethin admits he was the source of the £100
He cannot afford to get a place of his own, but admits to sending the gift of £100 for the baby.
"You're so sweet!"
“You’re so sweet!” says Ffion, but he tells her he does not want people to think he is getting soft.
No, Ffion!   Stop looking at him like that!
They look into each other’s eyes.
"Ffion has snatched the baby!"
Dylan catches Jinx in the street, telling him that Ffion has the baby;  “She decided she wants him and snatched him,” is Dylan’s accusation.   Jinx rushes home and finds Ffion with Gethin.
"Playing happy families?"
“What’s this?   Playing happy families?” he demands, “You were supposed to keep away from the baby!”
He assures Dylan all is well
Jinx phones Dylan to tell him the baby is safe and well, then emphatically accuses Ffion of “losing the plot!”
Dylan does not want Ffion visiting again
After Dylan has taken the baby and his bag of requisites, warning Ffion that she should not visit again, Jinx round on Ffion once more;  “You must think I’m thick!” he snarls, and throws Gethin out.
"You and me and our family are at risk!"
Despite Ffion’s worries about a stressed-out mother putting her child at risk, Jinx insists, “You and me and our family are at risk!   You put someone else’s family before your own!   If we meant anything to you, you would have had that medical by now, but you would rather play happy families with another woman’s baby and that loser, Gethin!”
A text message arrives . . .
As he storms out, a text from Gethin arrives on Ffion’s phone:
. . . from Gethin
Hope you’re OK.   Thanks for today. x”
