1 October 2014

Eileen is determined to speak to Sioned . . .
Eileen bangs on Angela’s door, wanting to talk with Sioned,
. . . but Sioned seems to have other ideas
but she is sitting at the foot of the stairs;  eventually her mother’s threats to stay there all day persuade Sioned to open the door, and tell Eileen, “Go home!”
"She thinks the world of you"
Eileen turns and sees Ed, outside the Deri;  she tells him that Sioned spent all day yesterday trying to sort the place out for him.   “She thinks the world of you – sort something out!” she says.
Ffion is 39 today!
Ffion comes in to see on the table a croissant with candles on her birthday;
Arwen watches Mam blow out the candles . . .
“Happy birthday!” says Jinx, and she blows out the candles, much to Arwen’s delight.
. . . and is highly delighted
Jinx tells her he has a surprise for her this afternoon.

Dai has not fogiven Eifion for being club chairman
In Garry’s flat, Eifion has been hired by Jim to work on removing the tiles in the kitchen, and Dai constantly finds fault with him.   When Dani comes in to check on progress, Eifion is ready to quit, saying that Dai has had it in for him since the rugby club meeting;
Dani's advice is, "Show Dai who's boss!"
Dani tells him he has to show Dai who is boss.
Garry has a phone call from his mate, Peter Vaughan, with an irresistible business proposition.
"Is it a café?   A hotel?"
Ffion arrives at the secret location with Jinx’s hands over her eyes, but is rather dismayed to find it is a “workshop for parents who are about to adopt”.
"I'm not going in there," Ffion insists
She refuses to go in, as she has not prepared herself for this.   Jinx says, “You have been preparing yourself for months – I thought this was what you wanted.”
Sioned goes to the Deri to collect the rest of her stuff, and Ed thanks her for her efforts to save the place.   She replies sady, “Well, I failed, like I failed to do anything with your £20,000.   It’s not me better off without youyou’re better off without me!   I’m sorry, for everything.”
Sioned is on her way towards the door . . .
She picks up her belongings and leaves, taking a final look at the bar as she goes.
. . . but Ed says, "I think you're amazing!"
As she pushes open the door, Ed says, “I know how difficult it was for you, begging for money – I think you’re amazing!”
Sioned and Ed talk
She responds, “So are you!   You just have to learn to move on;  you’ll get through this.   Please start believing in yourself again!”
Ed says he does not want her to leave, but is scared of asking her to stay.
They appear to be reconciled again
“The first thing to do,” says Sioned, “Is to close the Deri for the last time,” so he bolts the door, and they embrace in the empty pub.
Jinx continues to reason with Ffion . . .
Ffion and Jinx sit on a bench inside the building, and Jinx tries to persuade Ffion that they can either cancel, or be brave and face the meeting.
. . . and Ffion is now ready to go into the meeting
When someone comes downstairs and asks if they are ready, Ffion answers, “Yes, we are.”
"Eileen won't turn her back on you"
While Dai bangs on the Deri’s door, and cannot understand why it is closed, Sioned and Ed sit on the floor of the flat.   He tells her she put her mother in an impossible situation, and must be reconciled to her.   When Sioned says, “You don’t know how much she hurt me,” Ed replies that Sioned hurt her too, and she is afraid of losing her daughter.   “She told me, and it reminded me how much I love you.   Eileen won’t turn her back on you if you go and see her.”
Dani, surrounded by masses of bubbles
Dani is trying to supervise the children, but there is a lot of noise and constant bubbles floating around.
Garry breaks the news that he is going to Germany
When Garry comes in to reveal the fact that he has to go to Germany on business next week, she does not think she can cope alone, but he stresses that the deal, on car parts, could be worth £25,000 to him.
"Bubble!" warns Garry
Later, when Garry pops in again, all is quiet, as after some altercation about them not eating their fish fingers, she sent them all to bed, despite it only being six o’clock.
"You're taking me out!" Dani tells Garry
She then informs Garry that Elinor is coming to babysit, and he is going to take her out.
"I have to go to this tournament - can I borrow your clubs?"
Eifion tells Dai, in Garry’s kitchen, that as chairman of the rugby club, he has been invited to take part in the Fychan Brothers golf tournament, and as Dai will not be going this year, could he give Eifion a few tips, and loan his clubs.   Dai explodes with rage, saying his clubs were custom-made for him.
"All systems go," says Jinx
Back at home, Jinx says that now all systems are go for making an official application.   “It won’t be easy, but Arwen should have a little brother or sister within a year.”
"Thank you, for the best birthday I've ever had!"
Ffion thanks him for the best birthday she has ever had, and they hug.
A rare occasion – Sioned apologising to her mother
Ed and Sioned go to see Eileen outside the shop, and Sioned actually apologises to her mother.   When Eileen tells them there will always be a welcome for them, Sioned replies that they have to stand on their own two feet.
Garry mentions that he wants his £5,000 back
There is the sound of hammering, and as Ed and Sioned walk towards the Deri, past all the watching villagers, Garry reminds them he will want his £5,000 once they have sold up.
Meic is on the phone to Siôn, appraising him of the situation, and receiving his support for the co-operative idea;  “Strike while the iron is hot – into battle!” he says.
The end of an era in the history of the Deri
A man on a ladder is affixing a large sign to the front of the Deri.
