Sioned is running the Deri on her own today
As Sioned is deploying the sun blinds outside the Deri, she tells Angela that she is on her own, as Ed has the day off and Andrew has gone to Swansea.   Angela receives a text from Eifion and looks unimpressed;  “Tiring of him already?” asks Sioned.
Angela appears to be the only thing on Eifion's mind
Eifion hobbles out of the farmhouse door, as he thought he heard Angela arriving.   Cadno is passing with a wheelbarrow, and admonishes him as she has brought the children to see him, and he is looking for Angela;  he texts her again.
Angela is about to be summoned on an emergency call
Later, when she arrives, she is almost immediately called away on an emergency, but Marian invites her to lunch at one o’clock sharp.
Gaynor is becoming stressed at the thought of the cookery competition, but Hywel reassures her that she will do well.   She is complaining about the broken door on the cabinet.
Jinx and his non-speaking assistant in Gaynor's kitchen
Then Jinx arrives, with another chap operating the audio equipment;  they set up for the programme, and Britt hurries in.   As they are about to begin the competition, Jim comes in to mend the cupboard door, and they have to avoid him and his tools as the programme begins.
Jim is taking careful notes for future reference
Jinx introduces the two contestants, “Live in Gaynor’s kitchen at Lwyncelyn,” and Gaynor announces she is making sausage casserole, while Britt’s recipĂ© is traditional Welsh – Faggots and Peas.   In the background, by the sink, Jim can be seen making notes in a little book.
Eifion speeds out of the farmyard gate
As Marian gets lunch ready, Eifion is fretting, “Where’s Angela?”   Marian reminds him that she is a nurse, and is busy, but as soon as her back is turned, he stumbles outside, climbs into the 4x4 and heads out of the farmyard.
Ten seconds to the end of the competition
Jinx’s anonymous assistant indicates there are ten seconds to go, then the contestants present their dishes.
Jim looks as if he is on the judging panel
As Jinx photographs them for the website, Jim seems to be taking a great interest in the two meals.
Jim is branded a spy when his notebook is discovered
While they wait for the online votes to be cast, Jim offers to help with the washing-up, but then Jinx notices Jim’s little book, with details of the two dishes, and proclaims, “There is a spy in the camp!”   He says that Jim will not be disqualified from the final if he cooks something other than Sausage Casserole or Faggots and Peas;  he leaves in disgrace.
Marian is concerned about Eifion
“Eifion’s not fit to drive,” laments Marian to Cadno, “What if he has an accident?”   As Cadno is commiserating with her about going to all that trouble cooking, Angela arrives, to be told that Eifion has gone looking for her.   So she goes to find him, as he has left his phone at the farm and cannot be contacted.
Eifion’s 4x4 pulls up outside the Deri, he gets out and bangs on Angela’s door;  Hywel tells him he should be resting his foot, but he shouts through the letterbox.
Sioned persuades Eifion to wait in the Deri
Sioned comes out of the Deri and makes him go in there and wait for Angela.   She tells him she is all on her own in the pub, as Andrew has gone to Swansea, so Eifion assumes that Angela is with him.
He begins shouting that she is having an affair with Andrew;  and Jim, who has just walked in, comments, “Shout a bit louder, then all the village can hear!”   Sioned turns on the radio, to hear the result;  Jim says, “That Gaynor Llywelyn is not going to get the better of this working class bloke!”
Angela tracks down Eifion;  “So this is where you’re hiding,” she says.   Eifion demands, “Where have you been?” and she answers, “Looking for you.”
"He said you're having an affair with Andrew"
Jim chips in;  “There, Angela’s not having an affair!   He said you’re having an affair with Andrew!”   Angela turns round and stalks off, with Eifion lurching after her as fast as he is able.
"Eifion has lost his way since he started seeing Angela"
Cadno and Marian are waiting at the lunch table when Angela rings to tell them where he is.   Cadno regrets, “He has lost his way completely since he started seeing Angela,” but Marian reminds her that his personal life is his business.   Cadno insists that his leg will not get better while he is running after Angela;  “She will just have to help more – it’s her duty as his girlfriend.   Marian despairs, “Everything is such a mess!”
Cadno says there is a limit to what she can do, with two small children, and adds, “I’ve seen Eifion like this before – I don’t know what he’ll do if Angela loses interest!”
I would not describe that as a "close-run thing"
Jinx announces the result – “A close contest,” he says, not borne out by the computer screen, Gaynor’s Sausage Casserole is the winner.
Britt takes the defeat surprisingly well
Britt is very magnanimous in defeat, and when Hywel creeps in with a bottle of champagne, she jokes, “It’s almost as if you knew she was going to win.”

Eifion's antics attract Gwynfor's attention
Eifion is once again hammering on Angela’s door and shouting;  the pub customers cannot help but notice, but Angela sits in her kitchen and tries to ignore him.
