Sioned is giving the orders
Sioned is preparing the Deri for the final of Cogydd Cwm, and orders Andrew and DJ around.
Sioned announces that the tickets are for a good cause
Diane comes in, asks for two tickets and is astounded at the £14 cost, but Sioned tells her it is for a good cause;  DJ protests that it is too much, and Sioned tells him, “Keep your opinion to yourself – you’re only the cook.”
Ffion is racing ahead with the adoption arrangements
As Jinx is writing his script, Ffion has the documents from the Adoption Agency, and says, “They want to know everything about us.”   Jinx remarks that they do have rather colourful backgrounds, and begins, “If we decide to do this . . .”   Ffion interrupts, “We have decided,” so Jinx goes to work.
Just one final piece to be put into place, and their plan is complete
Gwyneth tells Nicky there are two schools near where they will be staying, but Gwern will not understand a word.   Nicky tells her that if she is not in Y Felin tomorrow afternoon, they may as well forget the whole thing.
Jim is full of confidence about his meal
Jim is boasting to Eileen about his recipé, very Welsh, homely, full of comfort, makes you feel warm inside.
Poor old Hywel is definitely not himself
Hywel appears to be in pain, and when he drops his toast, has difficulty picking it up.   Gaynor is wound up that her boss, Eric Reynolds, wants to see her, so she will have to go there before the competition;  she suspects it is to do with what she said live on CwmFM.
While Gwen cleans the windows, Gwyneth espies Siôn
Sion is at the shop, getting his “five a day” when Gwyneth sees him and wants to buy him lunch at the Deri, but, “After what happened the last time,” she says, she does not expect him to agree.   Of course, he is easily persuaded.
Gwyneth starts softening up Siôn
When he goes to her house, she is getting a cake out of the oven, and asks if Britt knows they are going together.   He says he has not had a chance to tell her.
When Jinx gets home, Ffion informs him that, “We’re going to see the Agency next Tuesday for an informal chat.”   Jinx’s response is, “And when are we going to have an informal chat about it?”   Ffion continues, “Is Tuesday all right with you?”   He replies, “Do you care?”
Debbie pretends she has paid by snaffling a ticket
Megan thanks Sioned for the ticket sales supporting her charity;  the people arriving show their tickets to Sioned and deposit them in a box, except Debbie, who surrepitiously sneaks one out of the box.
Jinx talks to Gethin about his South Korean dish, Kimchi.   As Siôn and Gwyneth enter, Debbie remarks, “Judas has been forgiven!”   Jim explains that his turkey chilli and pumpkin may seem strange in the middle of summer, but it is tasty and cheap, at only £1.60 a head.
Gaynor is becoming rather agitated about her recipé
Gaynor, on the other hand is preparing Seared Scallops, and seems to be very much on edge, especially when she knocks her carton of cream on to the floor.
Whoops!   The carton of cream ends up on the floor
At home, Hywel, still showing signs of discomfort, has heard enough and turns off the radio.
Gwyneth subtly pumps Siôn for information;  he says that he hopes the children will be playing outside tomorrow as he will be busy.   When she offers to help he initially says, “I don’t think so – I don’t want to go behind Britt’s back, or Garry’s or Dani’s.”
Debbie suspects something is going on between those two
Debbie, watching from the bar, asks Eileen, “Is there something going on with those two?”
Then Gaynor discovers that her soufflée has collapsed;  she bangs it down on Jim’s table, says, “I can’t do this, Jinx!” and rushes out of the Deri.  Unruffled, Jinx continues, “On that bombshell, why don’t we speak to our judges!”
Gaynor finds Hywel resting.   (I see the hole in the wall is still there)
Meanwhile, Gaynor arrives home, says she is so ashamed, and explains the reason behind her less than sparkling performance – Her boss took a dim view of what she said on air about getting another job, and sacked her on the spot.   She angrily told him that he needs to get out more.
She is relieved that the school job is still open . . .  I wonder . . .
“At least the school job is still open;  I cant give up a good job and pension,” she says.
Jinx asks the judges, Meic and DJ, if they have made a decision;  they say that both entries are very impressive, but based on standard, cost and inventiveness, they announce, in unison, that the winner is, “Jim Probert.”
Jim maintains his victory is very much deserved
Jim comments, “It’s obvious really – hard work pays off.”
The audience watch Jim as his enthusiasm wanes
However, when Jinx announces the prize, Jim becomes less triumphant.   He is to host a weekly cookery programme on CwmFM, cooking a new recipé on air each week, while answering listeners’ questions.
He protests, “I can’t do that!” but Eileen reminds him of his boast earlier – “warm and homely.”
Anita and Diane try to sample the food, but Sioned whisks it away, saying they can order from the bar menu;  they decide to go and get some chips instead.
Sioned thinks Megan ought to be grateful for 10%, while Debbie helps herself
Then Megan is given the money for the Maenan Appeal, and is mortified to find it is only £10.50;  Sioned explains it is 10% of ticket sales.
“People like you give charities a bad name!” grumbles Megan, but Debbie thinks she might try something similar at the café.
"I've cancelled the appointment, as you're getting cold feet"
Jinx arrives home, wondering what was wrong with Gaynor.   Ffion tells him she has cancelled the appointment, as it was clear he was getting “cold feet”.   Jinx objects, “No, I’d just like to know I’m part of the process and my opinion counts.   If you want to do this on your own, carry on!
"We have to do this together," says Jinx
But if you want me to be part of this, we have to do it together, every step of the way – otherwise there’s no point.”
This is getting rather cosy, is it not?
At home, Gwyneth and Siôn are having a bottle of beer, and his stance has softened.   He tells her she can come to Y Felin to see Gwern, as Britt will be at work.   As he goes, Gwyneth cannot believe how easily she has changed his mind.
