Eifion, out in the field, thinking
Eifion leans on the fence, looking pensive;  when he returns to the farmhouse, Cadno is looking at a promising house on the laptop.
Eifion realises what a position he has got himself into
He tells her she does not have to be sterilised – there is no turning back – but Cadno says it will give her peace of mind, that no-one else will be fighting the boys for their inheritance.   Eifion is close to tears as he tells Cadno he cannot believe that they are finished for ever;  she replies that he will see the boys every day, and he has Angela.   It will be a new start for all of them, but Eifion recalls that they have been together since they were children, and acknowledges it is all his fault.
Iolo's latest boyfriend
Iolo comes downstairs, finds no-one else in the (exceedingly untidy) house, and shouts, “It’s safe to come down!”   A strange man comes down, kisses Iolo, and leaves.
Dani quizzes Iolo about the stranger
Soon afterwards, when Iolo has unblocked a trap in the salon, Dani wants to know who the handsome bloke was she saw leaving;  he is called Gruff, and Iolo only met him last night.   Iolo also says he has a cashflow problem and needs payment quickly.
The house is in a deplorable state – something will have to be done
When he gets back home, he is angry at the state of the house, with the bike still on the kitchen table, and dirty dishes everywhere.   Then Dai arrives, demanding that Iolo fix the malfunctioning bidet;  “I almost drowned in it,” grumbles Dai, so Iolo goes to look at it.
Iolo finds it is operating perfectly, but Dai insists he will not pay until he is satisfied.   “It won’t do cartwheels and sing – it’s only for washing your backside!” Iolo says, irritably, “You’re just wasting my time!” and leaves.
Mark is all ready to cook bacon and eggs for breakfast
Gemma refuses bacon and eggs for breakfast, saying she does not want food, she is just bored.   Mark is rather cross;  “I’m out in all weathers, and you’re just sitting here – pull your finger out!”   When Mark tells Ed in the Deri, he says it is natural to feel deflated after a holiday, but Mark describes Gemma as “flat as a pancake.”   When Dani comes in, Mark tells her that Gemma needs a job;  he can remember what he was like before he became caretaker.   “A waster!” says Dani, and Ed suggests Gemma could display some of her jewellery in the Deri.
Cadno brings Arthur downstairs, and remembers the bad days when she was 15 and her dad died.   When they lost the farm and put her mother into a home, “Where were you?” she asks Eifion, “In prison for rustling sheep!   I’ve always been there for you, but you never supported me.   And I haven’t mentioned TB, the gun or Sioned.”
Eifion accepts that he has ruined much of Cadno's life
Eifion protests that he did love her;  Cadno says he has ruined half her life, but no more.
The good things to have come out of their relationship are Bobi and Arthur, she says, and Eifion hopes that Bobi will not remember anything of this mess when he is older.   “I don’t want to fight any more,” he assures her, and she asserts that the sterilisation will concentrate her attention on the two boys.
Iolo takes a very firm line with Dai
Iolo delivers his bill to Dai, who again insists that he will not pay a penny until the bidet is working properly;  Iolo gives him an ultimatum, The money by tomorrow, or I’ll take you to court – it’s up to you.”
Mark gets home, and announces, “I’ve got news for you, madam;  it’s Gemma’s Jewellery Night at the Deri on Thursday.   DJ will make tapas, and Ed is printing leaflets.”
Gemma looks less than thrilled about the "Jewellery Night"
He tells her it was Dani’s suggestion, and Gemma complains that Dani cares enough to meddle in her life, but not enough to answer her phone.   Mark says, “Perhaps she’s working — remember what that is?” and is confident that her rustic, recycled jewellery is all the rage.
Surprising that on the farm they eat white bread
Cadno explains that the operation is in three weeks’ time, and describes the process in detail.   Eifion then surprises her:  “The truth is, I don’t want any more children either;  I have only been with Angela a couple of months, and what we already have is more important – protecting Bobi and Arthur, and being a good father at last.   If you’re being sterilised, I’ll have the snip – it’s the least I can do.”
Eifion agrees that "Having the snip" is the least he can do
He draws the line at looking at pictures of the procedure on the laptop, but Cadno assures him he has seen worse in the lambing shed.   He will still see the children every day, and she will still be working on the farm.
Little Arthur sleeps on, regardless
They hold hands, and both have tears in their eyes.
