30 April 2014

Lunchtime on the farm, and Angela allocates afternoon tasks
In the farmhouse, Marian, Eifion and Angela are eating their lunch while Bobi is on the sofa;  as Angela issues orders to the other two, Cadno comes in from working, and says she will clean the yard.
Marian brings refreshment to the hardworking Cadno
A while later, Marian brings Cadno a cup of tea, and says that things have changed at the farm;  Cadno replies, “You’re telling me!”
Siôn and Meic agree that Jinx has done a good job on the mural
Meic and Siôn look at the mural, then Siôn glances at his Western Post and sees the date, 30 April;  he has an idea for a May Day party.   He asks if Jim, by the cash machine, will help, but he has other things on his mind.
Jim withdrawing money to keep Mark's mouth shut
Then Angela sees Jim;  “I hope you’re not getting money to keep Mark quiet!” she says, but Jim does not know what else he can do.   “I don’t want a public showdown,” he replies.
Siôn goes to the Deri, where Ows says they can have the party there tomorrow, and when asked, produces half a dozen bottles of mead.   Jim finally agrees to help, to keep his mind off his problems.
DJ, listening to Dai broadcasting his exploits as "Don Juan"
When DJ collects the plates from Dai and Diane, who are lunching there, Dai announces to anyone who will listen, “He hasn’t only been pleasing customers at the Deri, he’s been showing off his skills at Bryntirion as well.   When I got home, he had a woman upstairs, but she got away, and they were at it in our room!   Now I know what the DJ stands for — Don Juan!”
Meic asks who the woman was, and shamefaced DJ says, “No-one you know.”   Anita excuses herself, but when she comes back in, DJ surreptitiously asks if she got his message.
Diane asks if Anita has been planning her next rendezvous
Diane notices this, and tackles Anita, “Planning your next rendezvous?   Try a hotel next time.”
Angela sounds off about Mark's blackmailing activities
Angela goes to find Mark, but he is not at home, so she tells Gemma that this blackmail has to stop, as he is making Jim’s life hell;  Gemma promises to speak to Mark about it.   When Mark arrives home, Gemma is angry, telling him he should not be blackmailing Jim because he knows about their wedding.   Mark insists that he is not demanding the money, but Jim is giving him it to keep his mouth shut, and he will speak to Jim about it.   He also tells her he has a surprise arranged for her on Friday.
Siôn models the King of summer's crown
Meanwhile Jim is assisting Siôn with making a shield and has found two crown-like wedding headdresses for the King and Queen of summer.   Siôn tries one on.
Later Siôn and Jim arrive at the Deri with arms full of branches;  Siôn explains that in the Battle of the Seasons, summer and winter fight with branches, and summer wins.
"A few people I would like to clout!" says Dai
Dai announces that there are a few people he would like to clout, looking straight at DJ.   Siôn suggests Eileen and Jim could be the summer queen and king, an idea which Jim does not fancy, and they could borrow Mark’s “Bardic Chair” as a throne.
Mark hands the money back to Jim
When they have collected the chair, Mark apologises to Jim about the money and hands it back.   When they are given a drink of mead, they both prefer a pint of lager.
Little Arthur, blissfully ignorant of the hostile atmosphere at Penrhewl
At dinnertime, all Angela’s instructions have been carried out, but she tells Cadno she could have cleaned outside the front door;  she can do that tomorrow.   Cadno snaps, “As you’re in control here, why don’t you take Bobi to bed!”
Angela, taking charge of everything, as usual
Anita calls at Bryntirion, and Diane is very understanding;  “We’ve all been there – flirting, bit of fun, and before you can turn round . . .”   Anita does not regret it, and says it proves she can still take risks with a man.   However, Meic needs her support, so she regrets she can take it no further.
"Neither of us is past our prime," says Anita
“Neither of us is past our prime, yet,” says Anita.   Diane replies, “DJ would agree with that!”
