5 February 2014

Sioned goes to collect Angela, and off they go shopping, arm in arm, with Eileen watching from outside the shop.   Colin gets a few hints from Gemma for his blind date, and is told not to ask her age.
Siôn is reading about adoption, and tells Britt that the children would have to have new birth certificates, with him listed as their father;  he does not want to delete Teg’s and Owen’s names, but Britt suggests asking the children what they think.   When they come home at lunch time, they are told about the possibility, and think it is a good idea, although paying more attention to their sandwiches.
Colin, surprised by the identity of his "blind date"
Colin, accompanied by Gemma, is waiting at the restaurant when Debbie arrives, and is angry that she has been set up by Gemma;  nevertheless after Gemma goes they decide to have a meal, with Colin perturbed when he thinks he will have to pay.   Debbie says she has been lonely since splitting with Kevin, and when Colin says they can “give it a go”, Debbie insists, “I don’t want you to just settle for me;  you can’t put in an order, like buying a box of tools!”   Poor Colin is confused as she tells him a monkey has more charm than him, and says, “Shape up, or I’m off!”
Colin visits the toilet, where he obtains some text advice from Gemma to tell her some jokes;  they are of the calibre of, “What do you call hair on a cow’s face? — A moo-stache.”   Later Debbie says that she really wanted to meet someone new, not a familiar face, and that Colin was trying too hard.
Sioned and Angela visit a cafê and have a bottle of wine, as they compare purchases;   Sioned has bought a bright red top, and describes Angela’s grey one as “old-fashioned”.   She also says she has a friend who shares clothes with her two sisters, and they can be completely honest with each other.   When Angela reveals that she will try again to persuade Eileen not to leave, Sioned says she has been to see her;  “Don’t waste your time.   What good will it do?   If she wants to leave, let her go!”   However, she does tell Angela that Eileen said she would stay, if Sioned thought they could sort things out, but she does not.   When Angela regrets she will never be able to get to know her mother, Sioned’s response is, “A few more days like today, and we will have forgotten about her.”
This attitude angers Angela and she accuses Sioned of obstinacy, warning her, “If you let her leave, I’ll never speak to you again!   You won’t have anyone then.”
Angela has threatened never to speak to Sioned again
As a result of this, back in the village, Sioned surprises her mother in the shop doorway, but simply and rather unconvincingly says, “Don’t leave!   Maybe with a bit of time we can sort things out between us, but don’t leave,” before walking off.
Siôn is adamant that he does not want his name to replace those of Teg and Owen, although they will find it hard to tell Aaron, when he is old enough, about his father;  Siôn will change his will, to split the inheritance six ways, and stresses that he loves them, and that is more important than a piece of paper.
