31 January 2014

Dani is less than adept at working in the chip shop, but tells Gethin that in a few minutes he can have fish, chicken or burger.   When Siôn gets home and administers an unpleasant green old family remedy to Britt, he says he did not go in to check up on Dani, but Britt is insistent that she must;  she does not want her business to be ruined.
Colin shows off his picture in the Western Post, and notices a speed dating ad, just above the Tomos ac Ellis ad;  Mark encourages him to give it a try, as he is such an eligible bachelor.  He finds a brown leather jacket in Megan’s shop, then Mark selects from among his gaudy shirts, from Llanarthur Market, a green patterned one to go with it.
Garry valiantly battles through the smoke in the chip shop
Garry hears the chip shop smoke alarm sounding, and finds the place full of smoke;  Dani has popped over to the salon to find out what temperature to fry the fish, although Anita and Sheryl are too busy looking at photos of Wil on the tablet to be of much use.   When Dani returns, Garry rebukes her for leaving the fryer unattended, and then the customers start arriving, but Dani is so flustered that she tells them all to go, and come back in a few minutes.
Just then, Britt arrives, angry to see customers being thrown out, and starts shouting;  she finds fault with everything Dani does, but Gwynfor sticks up for her,
Gwynfor says Dani is doing a good job
and Marian thinks Dani is "charming" when she comes in for her weekly fish and chips.
Later, in the Deri, Anita tries to show off her prowess with her tablet, but Marian says she can do the same;  when Mark denigrates computers, Marian remarks, “That man is living in the Dark Ages!”
Back home, after Siôn tries to persuade her that Dani can cope, Britt admits she wants to control everything, as it is the only way she can be sure it is done properly, but Siôn says she must learn to trust people.   Britt says she feels old, and they both agree they want to grow old together;  she admits that perhaps they should look into what is involved with adoption, so they can make an informed decision, which Siôn welcomes.
Colin's sartorial elegance, and the red shoes complete the ensemble
Colin in red shoes, to go with the rest of his attire, and accompanied by Mark, who watches from the bar, arrives at the speed dating venue, and first meets Beryl.   Later he chats to Sheila, but when the bell rings for the next change of partners, who should appear but Debbie!   After initial awkwardness, they end up having a laugh, and when the evening finishes they go off, arm in arm, leaving Mark smiling by the bar.
In the evening, in front of the fire, Dani admits she enjoyed the day;  “Selling fish cakes and battered spam?” queries Garry.   Although she was a bit slow, she had fun with the customers, and heard some risqué jokes.   Garry is glad that she stood up to Britt, and says she will have to help him in the garage next — in overalls!
