4 February 2014

Mark tells Gemma that Colin is looking for a woman, and went to speed dating, but thinks there is chemistry between him and Debbie.   Gemma thinks they may need some help.
At the meeting about the mural, Jinx puts the argument that there should be no advertising, and no lining of anyone’s pockets.   When asked to vote, all but two, Dai and the chap next to him, are in favour;  surprisingly Hywel votes in favour.
Overwhelming majority — including Hywel
Dai says, “You’re asking for trouble – there will be graffiti everywhere, like an accident in a paintshop!”   When Jinx asks for volunteers to help, Dai maintains he is too busy, which makes Gwynfor grin, but Diane tells him what he will do.   Later he brings a tin of paint , and says he will fill any holes and put on some undercoat for the mural.
Jim goes to Angela’s and tells her it is all over, he can do no more;  Angela says she has tried to persuade Sioned, but she is so stubborn.   Eileen has just been trying to do the right thing;  now she wants to punish herself and everyone else, with Jim getting the brunt of it.   Jim laments, “I tried my best, but just made things worse;  I’ve got nothing left to give!”
Debbie detects that Ricky is wearing aftershave, and he says he is going vegetarian, like Gemma;  Debbie thinks he fancies Gemma, so tells Mark he must talk to him about it.   When Mark tells Gemma, she finds it ridiculous, and suspects that Debbie is just stirring things.   Gemma asks Debbie if she will go on a blind date with “a friend”, and Debbie says she cannot turn down a free meal.
Eileen in the shop flat is surprised when Sioned walks in, and says that Angela asked her to come, she wants Eileen to stay because it would affect Courtney;  Sioned does not want Courtney getting hurt as well, but she makes it crystal clear that her own feelings towards her mother have not changed.   Eileen knows there is no chance of getting back with Jim or the girls, so it is better if she goes, and Sioned agrees.   Eileen demands, “Just tell me you want me to go, and I’ll never come back!”   Sioned’s response is, “And you’ll be out out of our lives for ever?”
After Eileen puts the phone down
Then Eileen has a phone call and announces that she  should be able to move into the apartment in a couple of months, and that she will not sell the shop for a while.   She tells Sioned, “I’m sorry for all that has happened – it’s all my fault,”   Sioned replies, “This is for the best,” and walks out.
Jim putting on a brave face for Courtney's sake
Angela is pleased to see Jim laughing about Courtney’s homework, but he thinks he will never be happy again, and when people find out, he will be a laughingstock.   He thinks about moving from the village, as everyone will be gossiping about him;  if he had married Eileen, “My ex-wife would be my daughter, and my wife would be my child’s grandmother!   It’s a joke!”
When they finish their meal, they agree that they have Eileen to thank for changing them, as they are now more friendly, and Angela stresses that he needs Eileen and she needs him, in order to be happy.   She predicts, “You will be back together — trust me!”
