3 February 2014

Gaynor is not keen on going back to school, but Hywel tells her they are lucky to be both going back to work;  when she gets there, she is greeted by huge piles of paperwork, and Ffion brings more things for her to do.   There are hundreds of e-mails waiting for her attention, but then she finds an interesting item on her computer, rings a number and asks when is the closing date for the “secondment”.
In the café, Meic and Debbie are still bickering, but agree, for the customers’ sake, to pretend they can get on with each other.   Angela and Sioned come in, Angela revealing that she cannot keep ignoring Eileen, who she says is thinking of moving away to Greece.   Sioned wonders what lies her mother has been telling now, and does not like the fact that Angela has seen her mother “behind her back”;  “When you’re with me, you would rather be with her!” she says, but Angela tries to make Sioned realise she cannot hold a grudge for ever.   Sioned insists she will not talk to Eileen.
Angela wonders what will happen to Jim if she goes, and how it will affect Courtney, but Sioned replies, ”I don’t care about Jim, if he is daft enough to be heart-broken,” and refuses to listen to Angela any further.
At the chip shop, Dani is settling down, and when Britt arrives she is impressed with Dani’s performance, although she will not say as much.   Dani came in early, prepared batter, peeled the potatoes and has the frying times sorted out now.   Later, Dai comes in, says Dani has “done smashing” and says it is good to see a young smiling face in there, much to Britt’s annoyance.
"You've done smashing!"
Eileen puts Jim’s remaining belongings in a box and takes them to APD, where Dai tells her, “You’ve broken his heart, and it’s a shame;  he is on another planet, a lot of the time, and the customers have noticed.   He doesn’t deserve this!”
"You've broken his heart!"
Eileen simply replies, “No, he doesn’t,” and leaves.   When Jim returns, he complains to Dai for “giving her an earful”, and says that Dai does not understand how she is suffering.   Dai, in his usual unfeeling way, reckons that Jim should just forget her – he is better off without her.
Jim once again goes to Eileen’s, but she says she has to be alone, and he assures her he only wants what is best for her;  when he tells her the girls will eventually “come round” she thinks it will never happen.
Jim's final goodbye to Eileen
He gives Eileen her key, and says he is glad they are not parting as angrily as he and Angela did;  he thanks her for doing his washing, letting him watch football, and listening to him moan about Dai – this raises a slight smile.   “We had some good times,” he says, and she asks if he will be all right alone at Maes y Deri;  “I shall have to be,” he replies, kisses her and leaves.
Gaynor comes home, and tells Hywel about the council secondment, for a year, starting after Easter;  he tries to dissuade her from such hasty action, and thinks he has been successful.   However, Gaynor fills in the online application form, finally clicking the “submit” button.
Gaynor, about to click the "CYFLWYNO" button
Hywel says that they made the right decision, not proceeding with the application, but Gaynor keeps quiet.
