Gwyneth thanks Siôn for "being there"
Siôn sings to himself as he clears up the hymnbooks, then Gwyneth walks in and thanks him for “being there” for her;  “What happened the other day meant a lot to me.”   Siôn assures her that the chapel will always be there for her when she needs it, and she asks will he still be a friend.
They do not realise who is watching
“Of course,” he replies and they hug — of course, Britt has silently entered and watches them, although they do not realise.
"So this is where you're hiding"
Just as Siôn tells her that He knows everything,” and looks upwards, Britt interrupts, “So this is where you’re hiding!”
She reminds him he has to ring Iolo about the boiler at Y Felin, “But if you have more important things to do, I understand perfectly well!”
Iolo doing the cleaning again
Colin is happy with how the gig went on Saturday and he and Gethin are going to Llanelli tonight with Sheryl, and announces Gethin, a mystery woman.   Iolo is cleaning and does not want to go;  Gethin remarks, “He’s turned into an old woman lately!”
Andrew has done a runner, again
In the Deri, Sioned is angry that she cannot contact Andrew, and DJ hands her a note, which reads, “You’ll be angry with me, but I can’t stay and make things worse for you.   You’re better off without me.   Sorry, Andrew.”
Sioned does not know what she is supposed to do;  “The pub going under, and now I’m on my own!”
The lovely Gwen, waiting for her date
Meanwhile, Gethin sees Gwen, looking very smart, with her hair down, and she tells him she is waiting for her date to arrive.
Outside the chippy, Britt is moaning to Dani, “Who does that Gwyneth think she is?   So false, playing at being a chapel-goer, just to get respect the easy way, and making a fool of Siôn.
"Who know what he would do, if he got the chance?"
Dani says, “If he almost did it last time with Arianrhod, who knows what he’d do if he got another chance?” which does nothing to reassure Britt.
Siôn goes on about himself and ignores Iolo
Siôn goes to Iolo’s, lamenting that the boiler has died, and on Eisteddfod week, too.   He says he has to keep Britt happy, as she does not like him supporting Gwyneth, and goes on about how she is still trying although everyone is against her.   After continuing in this vein, he asks Iolo if he can sort out the boiler, and without enquiring once about Iolo’s wellbeing, leaves again.
Is that Gwen I see behind the counter?
Dani sits by Gwyneth in the café, after ordering a cappuchino from Gwen, in her working gear and hair tied back (SERIOUS LAPSE IN CONTINUITY), Dani asks what is going on between her and Siôn, and is told, “He’s helping me through a difficult time.”
Dani says she ought to stay away from Siôn
“Is that what you call it,” retorts Dani, and adds, threateningly, “I think you should stay away from Bethania and Siôn, or I’ll tell Garry about the plane tickets!”
Back at home, Britt snarls at Siôn, “You were hugging!” but before she can say more, Iolo arrives.
He soon has the boiler working again, and sits down to talk with Britt, who is sewing;  she asks him what he thinks of Gwyneth, but then pricks her finger and asks Iolo to get a plaster.
The sight of blood causes Iolo to panic
He looks aghast at the blood, and then rushes out of the door.
Colin hears that they have a booking on Thursday
Colin boasts in the Deri how well their gig went, so Sioned tells then they can have a booking for Thursday night;  she will order plenty of cheap beer, and stands to make lots of profit.
Gwen has been stood up, so Gethin invites her out
Geth looks round at Gwen, who is waiting forlornly for her blind date from Swansea who has not turned up;  and invites her to come with them.
Garry asks Dani why Gwern listens to her, but not to him, and she replies, “I have a special talent for making people do what I want.”
Garry does not appear to be receptive
Then Gwyneth arrives and announces that she wants to wipe the slate clean, and admits she planned to take Gwern to Spain, away from Garry, but she did not.   Now she wants to move on, and for everyone to be honest, for Gwern’s sake.
"Don't come anywhere near him!"
Garry is very suspicious at this, and shortly afterwards goes round to her house, where she repeats the same sentiments.   Garry emphasises, “There’s no such thing as a clean slate between you and me – so don’t come anywhere near him!”
She meekly accepts her punishment, and Garry remarks, “You need help – a psychologist’s help!”
Gwen and Gethin have enjoyed their evening . . .
Gethin and Gwen arrive home and sit on the sofa, becoming quite amorous.
So much so that they are about to . . .
Gwen says she is glad her date did not turn up;  “Me, too,” agrees Gethin, and as they are about to kiss, loud-mouth Colin and Sheryl turn up.   Colin continues to make a lot of noise, and turns on the radio, while Gethin says to Gwen, “I never thought of you as a biker chick.”
They agree to meet up again
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me,” she replies, but then Iolo comes downstairs, unable to sleep because of the noise.   He turns off the radio, then sees that Gwen is using his mug;  he grabs it from her, shouting, “It’s my mug!”
Gethin demands that Iolo apologise, and the girls think it is time to leave.
Iolo has now really "lost the plot"
“You’ve spoilt our evening,” complains Gethin, but Iolo, now in tears, repeats, “It’s my mug!” and rushes upstairs.
Gethin shouts after him, “You’re completely nuts!” and tells Colin, “Either he starts behaving like a normal person, or I’m going to get rid of him.”

Siôn ignores Gwyneth in the street
Siôn walks from Bethania, and tries to ignore Gwyneth, who goes into her house.
Dani does not want anything to do with Gemma
Dani comes into the café, and Gemma asks if she would like to go to the Eisteddfod;  Dani says, “Don’t be pathetic – I don’t want anything from you!”
Colin asks Siôn that as he knows these Eisteddfod people, what would happen if he did not turn up at the Eisteddfod, and Siôn admonishes him, as people will have already bought tickets.   Colin then tells Mark that, as he said, it is too late to pull out now, but Mark is unmoved.
Gwyneth is having her supervised visit to Gwern, with both Garry and Dani watching her like hawks, much to her displeasure.
They start on the jigsaw puzzle
Gwern thanks his mother for the present she brought, a jigsaw puzzle of the world;  they start to assemble it with Canada.
Just as Gwyneth is enjoying herself, Dani intervenes
Dani is being excessively helpful, which irritates Gwyneth.   She brings Gwern his favourite milkshake, and Gwern enjoys blowing down the straw, making bubbles.
Gwern having a good time, blowing down the straw
Gwyneth testily says, “Do you have to make so much noise?” to which he replies, “Sorry!” and grins.   Dani also pointedly remarks that they have not yet found the piece for Spain.
When the hour is up, the world puzzle is nearly finished;  Garry remarks, “Even God took a week to finish the world,” and then adds, “Sorry, Gwyn, I forgot you’re religious these days.”   Then Dani tells her that she can see Gwern whenever it is convenient for her;  Gwyneth has had enough of this false friendship, and leaves.
Mark is concerned, but Gemma regards it as prying
As Gemma puts on her makeup again and prepares to go “to work” again, Mark asks her about it, but she concocts the names of two friends, Jenny and Alice, and says, “You sound more like a policeman than a postman!”   When Mark mentions that Colin saw her the other night, she makes up a story about applying for a Cocktail Waitress job, and accuses Colin of stirring up trouble because he is jealous of them.
Gethin's soup kitchen products being loaded into the van
Gethin loads some containers of soup into a van, then sees Sheryl watering the plants outside the salon, and invites her for a glass of wine.
Mark looks through Gemma's pockets
Just as Mark is looking in the pockets of Gemma’s leather jacket for some evidence, Colin arrives with some flowers for him.   Mark confesses he is not happy about Gemma going out at night, but can do nothing about it.   Colin tells him that young people do some strange things, and Mark says Colin is the nearest thing he has to a “shrink.”
"I don't want her to feel comfortable"
After Gwyneth has gone, and Garry thinks she was overdoing things, Dani tells him that she behaved as she did as, “I don’t want her to feel comfortable, but keep her on her toes.”
Gwyneth continues buttering up Siôn
Siôn is having a quiet drink in the Deri when Gwyneth joins him, thanking him for last night;  it has helped her to start forgiving herself.   Siôn says she should be forgiving him, and tells her he is still angry at the way she deceived him.   “You didn’t seem very angry last night!” she comments.
Sheryl and Gethin being entertained by the comedians
Sheryl and Gethin sit on the sofa, drinking wine, and looking rather “cosy” while Colin and Mark practise their routine, and argue about how it should be executed.

Colin and Mark think they can succeed
They think that with a morning’s serious rehearsal they can manage their 15-minute slot at the Eisteddfod tomorrow night.
Colin tells Mark that he and Gemma need to talk, “You don’t want the Tessas of this world to take advantage,” he says.
Financial Advisor, Stella, being chatted up
Meanwhile, in a dark club somewhere, Gemma is being propositioned by a stranger in a suit;  she has been calling herself Stella, a Financial Advisor, but this man is after more than financial advice.
It becomes clear exactly what he is after
He is not impressed by her rejection of him;  “Is this the way you treat your customers?” he demands.   When he wants her to, “Tell me more about what you can offer me,” she manages to escape.
Has this experience brought Gemma to her senses?
Mark arrives home to find her already there, minus makeup and in her dressing gown.   He can see that something is wrong, but she will only say that Dani upset her this morning.   Mark says he is worried that she is “going off” him, but she assures him, “I want you more than ever now, Mark!”

30 July 2014 (2nd)

Garry is reluctant to believe a word she says
As Garry walks from the garage, he ignores Gwyneth, saying, “I’ve got better things to do than talk to you.”
“Didn’t Dani tell you, I’ve dropped the legal process,” she replies, “It’s easier and cheaper to sort it out ourselves.”   Garry is sceptical and walks off.
What Garry sees "in black and white" on his laptop screen
When he gets home he finds an e-mail confirming what she said, and cannot understand why she has done it.   Dani then admits she had a hand in it, but did not say anything till she saw it in black and white.   Garry says they will have to celebrate.
Jim is getting pre-broadcast nerves
Jim is getting very worried about answering cooking questions live on CwmFM, and wants Eileen to be standing by, so he can text her with any difficult ones, and get her answer, but she says that would be cheating.   When DJ comes into the shop, Jim asks him if he wants to earn an easy fiver.
Gwyneth calculates that admitting everything will convince Siôn
Gwyneth goes to Siôn’s, confessing that she has made a terrible mess – the woman asking him questions was Nicky, her partner, who she met in prison, and she was distracting him, so Gwyneth could take Gwern away to Spain, a long way from his father.
Siôn is furious;  “So you did deceive me?   Britt was right!   Some things are unforgivable!”   Gwyneth tries to justify herself, “But I didn’t take him.”
However, Siôn tells her to get out
“That was your intention — get out of my sight!” shouts Siôn.   When Britt comes downstairs, he refuses to say what the shouting was about.
"You forgave her for murdering my brother!"
“No, you can’t say, because you’re the face of Bethania!” she mocks, “It must have been something terrible if you can’t forgive her — you forgave her for murdering my brother!”
In the studio, Jim’s first question is from Colin Evans, asking how he knows when to take his victoria sponge out of the oven.
Jim uses building terms for his cooking
Jim uses the analogy that making a cake is like mixing concrete – three parts sand, two parts chippings and one part cement, but Colin objects that he does not want his cake like concrete.   Jim adds that icing a cake is just like plastering.
The next caller is Richard Ashurst Junior, otherwise known as DJ, who asks about a German dessert.   Jim is confident about this one, suggesting Apple Strudel, using filo pastry which has to be rolled very thinly.
"How about stopping things with your solicitor?"
Garry and Dani sit down to a takeaway meal, and Dani tells him, “There’s one thing that would be the icing on the wedding cake;  if you’d stop things with your solicitor too.   We don’t have to force anyone to do anything now, and can think about the wedding.”
Garry agrees, “Yeah, why not?   It looks as if we’ve won anyway.   There’s something a little bit sly about you.”
They arrange that when Gwyneth has her supervised visit from 4.30 to 5.30 tomorrow, Garry will be there.   “You really do hate her guts, don’t you?” says Garry, but she answers, “No, just want to show her who’s boss.”
Iolo lies about his visit to the doctor
Iolo comes to visit his father, but Siôn is too busy going off to the prayer service at Bethania, so he sits down and talks with Britt;  he tells her that he feels much better after seeing the doctor and speaking to a professional, and thanks her for not telling his father.   Britt asks if it would be so bad if she did tell him, but he prefers to talk to her.
Eileen spoils things for poor old Jim
Eileen puts the cat among the pigeons when she phones in about frittata – how long should she put it under the grill?   Jim is floundering out of his depth here, and after calling it a “fattata” admits, “I’m a builder, not a cook!”
Jim has had enough of this broadcasting lark — "Find someone else!"
When Jinx reminds him he has a weekly cookery programme from next week, Jim throws down his headphones, shouting, “I won’t do it – I can’t do it – find someone else!”
Jim vows to stick to building, not cooking
When he gets home, he admits to Eileen that he should not have tried to be what he is not
Iolo has worked himself into quite a state
Iolo is obsessively arranging and rearranging the CDs on his bookshelf, then sits on the floor in exasperation, his head in his hands.
Poor attendance: little old chap, Llinos, Betty, Gwyneth and Madge
At Bethania, a rather poorly-attended meeting is about to start, when Gwyneth arrives.   People are much more friendly than last time – Betty hands her a Bible, and Llinos offers her a mint.   They start reading the third Psalm, including the words, “Many are they who rise up against me,” and when they get to the words, “But Thou, O Lord art a shield for me,” Gwyneth seems to brighten up.
Gwyneth puts on her best miserable look for Siôn
At the end of the meeting, everyone leaves except Gwyneth, and Siôn tells her that he recognises true repentance when he sees it.   “You realised in time what you were doing was wrong.   It’s a comfort knowing there’s something greater than us.”
What is the matter with the bloke?   Has he completely lost it?
As they stand, looking at each other, Gwyneth appearing particularly mournful, Siôn suddenly kisses her, for no apparent reason.   When Gwyneth realises what has happened, she hurriedly leaves.
