Ffion is going to study the adoption documentation
Ffion is taking the adoption paperwork to school, where she will look at it in her free lessons.   Jinx says, “We have to be at our best for the weekend courses, and impress the officials.”   Ffion is reluctant for anyone to know, in case they are rejected.
Jinx is doing some electrical work
Jinx replaces a light bulb;  “It must be a dud!” he says, as it fails to come on.
"You're the dud!"
Ffion switches on at the socket and remarks, “You’re the dud!”
Egg, bacon, laverbread . . . and cockles?
In the Deri, Siôn is serving a traditional Welsh breakfast to Gabriela, and tells her it is what the miners would have eaten.   “The laverbread would have been gathered by their wives,” he proudly tells her, “And the bacon, eggs and cockles are all local.”
Siôn extols the view from Y Wenallt
He also advises that from the top of Y Wenallt there is a wonderful view over Cwmderi.   Gabriela tells him today is a special festival in her country, to celebrate the discovery of Cwm Hyfryd.
"Ricky needs to work a bit harder"
As Mark delivers a package to Gaynor, she tells him that Ricky needs to work harder at his Spanish and Maths, as he has slipped a bit.   Then Gaynor tells Hywel she has invited Sheryl over later, to advise her what to wear for the wedding, as she has “an eye for fashion.”
Dani and Garry wait while Mal is served
Garry and Dani go to the Deri, looking for Siôn, as they are supposed to be having a rehearsal for the wedding.
"You're supposed to be at a wedding rehearsal"
He soon comes in, with Gabriela, carrying the ingredients for an authentic Patagonian cocktail, and had totally forgotten the rehearsal.
"Good luck with the adoption!"
Hywel is in the café when Ffion comes in;  he wishes her luck with the adoption, and Debbie overhears.
Obviously, Ffion had arranged to meet Gethin
After a quick text to Gethin, Ffion tells Hywel that she is rather superstitious, and does not want to tempt fate about the adoption process.
"Don't mention adoption in public," asks Ffion
Hywel replies, “We all have our secrets, don’t we?”
"You have to relax," says Siôn, then Dani hears something . . .
In Bethania, Dani is getting nervous already, and suddenly hears a squeaking, scrabbling noise.
"It's behind this wall!"
She stands on a pew, with her ear to the wall, and squeals, “It’s mice, isn’t it?”   Garry agrees, “Not small mice, either!”
"I'm not getting married among the rats!"
Dani starts panicking;  “Rats!   I’m not getting married among the rats!”
Oh dear, telltale rat droppings!
Garry investigates and finds rat droppings and a chewed carpet.
Siôn appears to find the whole rat thing distasteful
Siôn is very repulsed by the whole idea.
“I don’t want apologies – what are you going to do about it?” demands Dani, “You must flush them out before next week!”   Garry states sternly, “I know Siôn will sort it out!”
Ricky wonders what all the Spanish Omelette talk is about
When Mark gets home, Ricky is making a sandwich, and Mark tells him he should make a Spanish omelette, and tell Mark the ingredients, in Spanish.   Mark also wants him to show him some equations, but Ricky simply picks up his sandwich and a packet of crisps and disappears upstairs.
They look at the price of Spanish tuition — £40 per hour!
When Mark reports the problem to Debbie, she blames the teachers, and when Mark suggests additional tuition, says they cannot afford that.
Siôn offers the Deri as a replacement venue . . .
In the Deri, Dani is wondering what will happen if the rats cannot be eradicated from the chapel.   Siôn suggests they could marry in the Deri, and he would let them have it for half price.
. . . but Dani dismisses this option
Dani again insists, “I don’t want to get married in a pub!” and when she visits the toilet, Garry leans across the bar and addresses Siôn.
Hard man Garry spells it out to Siôn
“Stuff your other option,” he growls, “Bethania will be back to normal next week – get my drift?”
Britt gives Gabriela a warning . . .
Britt goes upstairs, ostensibly to welcome Gabriela, but in reality to warn her off becoming too friendly with Siôn.
. . . but Gabriela thinks the idea is absurd
“You don’t think that I’m after your husband, do you?” laughs Gabriela.   “Is that why he gave me a special price reduction on my room?   It’s absurd!” Gabriela replies.
Gaynor is on the laptop as the doorbell rings
Gaynor looks on her laptop at the dresses available, and then Sheryl arrives, with a bottle of wine.   As Gaynor goes to open it, Hywel asks Sheryl, “Is this your idea of being careful?”
"What if they reject us?"
When Ffion arrives home, she worries, “What if they reject us and says we’re not suitable?”   Jinx replies, “It would be a blow, but would not be the end of the world.   We’re lucky enough as it is – we have each other, and Arwen.”
"See, Arwen agrees!"
Arwen can be heard on the baby monitor, and Jinx comments, “See, she agrees!”
Hywel, bursting out of his waistcoat
Gaynor seeks Sheryl’s advice on which dress to choose;  then Hywel comes downstairs wearing his suit, and is told by Gaynor, “That waistcoat is much too tight, caused by your beer belly!   And that tie doesn’t match.”
A quick snog while Gaynor's back is turned
While she goes up to fetch another one, Hywel kisses Sheryl;  “I never thought this could be so much fun!” he says.
Siôn and Gabriela share cocktails
Siôn and Gabriela drink their cocktails in the Deri, and Mark gets to hear about the rat problem;  “Now the rat’s out of the bag!” he quips.   Dani comes in and Siôn asks, “What can I get you?”
"You can get rid of those rats!"
“You can get rid of the rats so I can get married next week!” is her angry retort,
Mark says he has rat-catching expertise . . .
and Mark volunteers to get rid of them for £300, advising that, “Ratting is a specialist field.”   Siôn tells him to be at Bethania at nine tomorrow morning.
Then Siôn comes in for some flak from Britt;  “Why is Gabriela not paying full price for her room?”
"She deserves a discount"
Siôn says she does not have much money, and is staying a while, so deserves a discount;  “I can’t go back on my word,” he says.
"Those people are what we call customers!"
Britt continues, “When are you going to realise that those people are what we call customers?   They pay the mortgage on this place, as well as all the other loans!”

Eifion tucks into his Worker's Breakfast
Eifion tucks into his “Worker’s Breakfast” of scrambled eggs on toast;  he says his brain will be scrambled, having to work with Dai.
He is not keen on the contents of this box
He is not impressed with the healthy lunch that Angela packs for him.
"You did me a favour by sacking me!"
Gwyneth seems happy when Megan sees her, and says, “You did me a favour by sacking me!   Thank you!”   Megan glowers after her.
Dai finds a suitably dirty job for Eifion
As soon as Eifion arrives at APD, Dai presents him with a set of drain rods;  “I hope you know where to stick these,” he says.   Eifion can think of a few places, but presumes he wants them down the drain.
Dai tells Diane there may be a blockage, but she insists the only blockage is in his head.
"I have to show him who's boss!"
Dai replies, “I have to show him who’s boss;  we don’t want him acting the gentleman farmer round here, and the sooner he realises, the better!”
The Patagonian visitor arrives
A Deri Deithio taxi pulls up outside the Deri, with Ed driving, and a stranger alights, Gabriela, all the way from Patagonia;  Ed is surprised that she knows the new licensee of the pub is Siôn, whom she has met online.
Inside, Siôn says, “It’s good to meet you at last,” and hugs her.   As Siôn  shows her to her room, Ed is not sure that Sioned will be pleased about her arrival.
Megan had bought herself lilies . . .
It is Megan’s birthday, and she has bought herself some lilies;  she asks Diane for a favour, as a councillor.   She advises that Gwyneth has set up a business in her home and employs Sioned, in contravention of Health and Safety rules.
. . . and virtually threatens Diane
“I’d like you to tell them to find a more suitable workplace, or to cease trading,” Megan virtually orders Diane, and adds that if she were to make an official complaint about the matter, “It could ruin your reputation as a councillor.”
Ed is running the taxis and the café
Ed is helping out in the café as Gwen is not there, and Debbie has gone to the shop.
"Who's that out there with the camera?"
When Debbie returns she asks who it is, taking photos outside, and Ed tells her, “It’s Siôn’s new friend, he met online, from Patagonia,” and Debbie immediately thinks of a dating website.
Siôn, meanwhile, is introducing Gabriela Gonzalez to Sioned, and we learn that she spent two years teaching Welsh at a school.   She is in the village as part of Menter Patagonia (Patagonia Enterprise), and is studying modern Welsh life.   “You’re in the wrong place – this village is stuck in the last century,” is Sioned’s comment.
Sioned is not pleased that someone else will be living upstairs
Then, as she takes a photograph of Sioned, Siôn tells her that Gabriela is staying upstairs, which, as Ed suspected, does not go down well.
Diane gives Eifion a cup of tea, but Dai again complains he is not working on the drains.
The turkey pictures go up on the wall
“I think we’ll have Delyth for Christmas!” says Diane, showing Dai pictures of some of Penrhewl’s turkeys.
Eifion comes in the back way to finish his tea
Meanwhile, Eifion has gone outside, but as soon as Dai follows, he nips in through the back door, to finish his tea.
Diane breaks the unwelcome news to Gwyneth
Diane then goes to break the news to Gwyneth that she cannot use her home for the business, and there has been a complaint.
Neither Gwyneth nor Sioned are pleased
“Megan - there is no end to her poison!” snarls Gwyneth, “You know how she exaggerates!”
Megan, having blown out her candle
In the café, Gabriela is introduced to Debbie, and Megan, who has been presented with a free cake bearing a candle, invites Gabriela to join her.
Ed is pleased with even a couple of shifts
Ed reasons with Debbie that it is difficult to cope when Gwen is off, and she agrees to give him a couple of shifts a week as a trial.
Pictures of Ceridwen and Delyth, the Penrhewl turkeys
“As your first job, put these up,” she says, handing him more of Jim’s turkey pictures.
Eifion is eating chips for his lunch, and empties Angela’s lunchbox into the bin.
Dai will be having a "proper lunch"
Dai says he will check the drain work when he comes back from a proper lunch at the Deri.
Gwynfor, being photographed for posterity . . .
At the Deri, Gabriela takes a photo of Gwynfor at the bar, and Siôn suggests he tries a pint of the new Welsh beer, “Seren Senni”.
. . . and suspicious of this fancy new beer
When Dai arrives, Siôn tells him it contains various citrus flavours.   Gwynfor sniffs suspiciously at his pint, but then begins drinking it.   Dai complains, “If I want fruit, I’ll go to the shop, or Llanelli Market.
"I like my beer to taste like beer!"
“I like my beer to taste like beer!”
Sioned, peeling carrots
Upstairs, Sioned is peeling carrots as she tells Ed, “It’s not right, having someone else staying here!  He should have discussed it with us.”
"I'm not happy with that Spaniard living here"
Then Siôn comes up and Sioned gives her opinion, “I’m not happy about that Spaniard living here!”
"It's up to me what I do with my spare rooms"
“Siôn calmly replies, “She’s not Spanish, and she has a name, Gabriela.   It’s up to me what I do with my spare rooms.”
Sioned’s wrath is now roused, and she stomps downstairs, where Megan and Gabriela are chatting.
"I know you're a nasty witch!"
She confronts Megan, “Don’t play the innocent!   I know you’re a nasty witch!”   When Gabriela urges her to stop, Sioned continues, “Now you live here, do you think you can tell me what to do?”
Siôn warns her to calm down . . .
Siôn warns her to be sensible, or he will ban her from the bar, and after Gabriela tells him, “Good idea, Siôn,” he does so.
. . . and then tells her she is barred
“Right, you’re barred!”
Gabriela comments to Megan, “It’s obvious who wears the trousers here – there’s something attractive about a strong man!”   Siôn hears this with some embarrassment.
"Yes, I enjoyed my lunch"
Angela arrives home and Eifion tells her how he enjoyed his lunch;  “Diane was nice to me,” he says, and thinks he may be there for a while.
Eifion is up to something
Then he smiles and appears to be planning something.
